and you just hooked them to the switch and to the battery or the fuse box?
Basically, yes! I tapped into my ignition wire under my dash so that the switch only gets power whenever the truck is on. That way I can leave the switch on all of the time and don't have to worry about not turning it off whenever I turn the truck off. However, you can't really see the LEDs during the day, so I'm thinking about tapping the switch power from the headlight wire so that they'll only come on during the night.

I totally forgot why I followed this thread, so finally I clicked on it to figure out what in the world I said in it. And then I saw that glorious lit up grill and it all came back to me.  And now I'm itching to do it too, all over again. Hope you don't mind if I copy-cat you reid, but imitation is the highest form of a compliment right ?? Especially here  (y)

I'd be honored if you "copy-catted" me! To be completely honest, I copied off of someone I follow on Instagram who owns a Silverado, with his permission of course. If I were to go back and do it over, I would've ordered higher quality multi-color LEDs online that come with a remote.

Awesome, I'm so excited now !! I love having new truck things to blow my money on. :D  I sooo wish I could do colors. I work at a PD and I've tried my hardest to find a way to do teal lights on my truck, but they're too close to blue and in talking to the officers I can't get around it.  :E: Did the silverado have a black grill like you or the standard ? I didn't even realize yours was black until today when I went to the beginning of the thread, I'm just wondering if mine will look dumb backlit while still being the stock silver.

Yes, the Silverado had a black grille as well. However, I think it would look great regardless of what color your grille is. The LEDs mount on the inside front of the grille facing towards the radiator so they're completely hidden.

Yeah I have done a couple of those installs through my company.

Hey reid wanted to run this by you. What I am currently saving up for is a 7.5" rough country lift, 18x9 Eagle Alloy 171s, and 37x13.50R18 mud grapplers. Then I wanna do cab lights, darker tint, and a GMC sierra hood molding like the DMaxs have and Im gonna put a 5.3L emblem on the side of that
Without steps hahaha
Gonna have to help my girl up there with a butt push hahahaha

That sounds like one heck of a build, Alex! Unfortunately, without quite a bit of trimming and/or a body lift, I don't see you fitting 37x13.50's under there. I guess it somewhat depends on the backspacing/offset of the wheels. My buddy recently lifted his '09 Silverado with a 7.5 Rough Country on 20" wheels wrapped in 35" muds and his rubbed until we trimmed it significantly. GM wheel wells suck  (n)

But right now, I am able to fit 35s with my 4 inch lift cuz of the trimming I have done. and with a decent bit more and not off road I can fit 37s. So with another 4.5 inches because I will be putting a 1 inch spacer under the front strut, I can fit 37s and will do so no matter how much I gotta trim hahaha

hey  (y) butt push

It took twice as long as it should have to get this project done because it kept raining on us, and because the plastic wire crimpers that we tried to use didn't do its job right. Either way, it's done and I love it ! I'll get a better picture tonight when its real dark, this was at like dusk-ish.

I did 4 24" LED strips, two on top just above the grill opening (the picture shows the whole front end upside down) and two across the bottom. They're wired straight into the headlights so they only come on at night / in the rain.

Thanks again reidbarton96 for the idea/letting me copy-cat your copy-catting !!  (y)

That looks GREAT! In fact, I think that they're brighter than mine are. Nice work  (y)

They are, I got one that had warning tape on it and said 80% brighter than normal LEDs  :-X But I LOVEEEE it.

Not sure which user said it but it's finally true for me: you can't do one mod without needing to do another. Now that the grill looks awesome the headlights look dingy in relation, and since one is currently held in with zip ties  :E: I bought all new headlights today.
