Motorized Tailgate

sicilianos avy, you have a modders mind, always on the lookout for another...................................................mod!

this setup looks like,1 hydraulic cylinder, and there must be a hidden pump, and hoses. the cylinder, only on 1 side.

it almost looks like a boat steering cylinder, and a whole setup for 600$, doesn't seem crazy. there must be a speedo, or gps link, for the tailgate to automatically raise at a certain speed.

i think it is as jryther say's, "very interesting"

Having the tailgate drop to the partially lowered "highway" spoiler position is interesting, but I would guess it would be kind of pointless for an Av with a hard cover. Seems that doing so would actually spoil the aerodynamics of the truck. (No pun intended  )

Having a remote tailgate opener for loading cargo could be cool, but I'd be happy with a power tailgate lock. (Before you post links to the threads, yes, I know there has been discussion about that, I just haven't had the guts to take my tailgate apart yet.)

I remember people saying that the tailgate was kind of heavy for their wives and they wished they had a power TG. I think it's cool. But I didn't even notice the price. My wife is as tough as nails, so she never had a problem with it. LOL

SS, you really don't have to rip the cover off of the TG to give it power. I didn't. I just took the bezel off and used my Dremel to cut a portion of the TG and mounted it inside, I then ran the wire down the rod that unlocks the catch, drilled a whole on the bottom of the TG and snaked it thru, gave it power and viola. Done.
I did it in the rain too. It sucked :2:

That's a cute mod....but I just don't see the usefulness. Except maybe if you had that Anti-Tailgating Mod that someone posted a while back. If I recall it was twin .50 cals mounted in the bed of a SIlverado. >:D
