MP3/Aux Input Alternative

:0: ?I have found a very reasonable cost alternative that allows you to hook up any aux input to your factory stereo - in my case, my MP3 player. ? :0:

Crutchfield sells a FM modulator made by Jensen, model KVFM1. ?This connects in line with the antenna to the factory radio. ?In addition, you need to connect 12vdc. ?The unit comes with a 22" RCA input lead (female jacks on the end), that allows you to connect to virtually any audio source. ?

:0: ?You can buy a lead from RadioShack that has a mini-stereo plug on one end, and male RCA on the other for under $10. ? :0: ?

Please note for the Avalanche, you need to ask for mini-antenna adapters, as the modulator comes with the larger/standard Motorola Size - and get this - Crutchfield gave these to me for free - all I did was ask if they had them - cool!!! ;D ?You need two - one in and one for out. ?This could cost up to $20 for the two, if you can't get them free. ?RadioShack and Circuit City sell the antenna adapters as well.

Cost is $49+s/h. ?My total cost was $55.98 total for shipment to New York. ?I'll let you know how it works out.

This is what I did. I love it. I mainly play Audible "books on tape" from my PocketPC. I've also done a little music. It works great.

One hint: Put an on/off switch on it. The modulator block all AM and a little FM, so you may want to turn it off when not in use.

Look for an article in the next CAFCNA Magazine. Or, email me and I can send you the directions and pictures.

The unit works great, MP3s are now mobile (y)

Crutchfield actually sent me (1) box of (6), for the cost of (1). I am now looking to get rid of (3) of these units at the cost of $25 each (+s/h I am in upstate NY)

Send me a message if you would like one ;D

Guys, I know this is an old thread but this is exactly what I'm looking for. It looks like crutchfield doesn't carry this anymore. do you guys know another one that will work the same way?
