I have been AV site member and AV owner for about a year now. I've wanted to "pump up" my AV's HP without major expense so have added Hypertech, cold air and exhaust was next. In doing research on exhaust for our AVs, it was clear that our site's own Muffman had some insights to share and experience to draw from. Well I need to tell you, he is not only one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, but one of the most knowledgable, if not THE most knowledgable exhaust experts around.

I met with Muffman last Friday after a 2 1/2 drive south to Portland, to talk and with hopes of installing an exhaust. Casey accomodated me with a ride in his AV to hear his set up, which represented the final selection of over 6 different systems and combinations. The system included the Flowmaster 70 muffler, 3" in from the CAT, 2 1/4 dual outs and finished it off with SS oval tips. I knew after riding in his AV that this was the system I wanted for my AV. NO resonance at speed. Perfect rumble at idle and mid range w/o being too hot rod sounding, perfect set up for me!

After 4 days and over 500 miles on the new system I am very satisfied. Even my wife likes the new sound!

So the point of this post is to 1st publicly thank Muffman for his time, energy and committment to his passion and secondly to share with my fellow AVers that Muffman is the real deal, he knows what he's talking about. IMHO if you have any exhaust problems or questions, ask Muffman. Oh, wanted to add, he has one of the most cooperative and personable team of technicians I have been around in quite a while.

Hail to the Muffman,

Thanks Casey,
Steve

Congrats! I know you are on Cloud 9. Nothing better than a sweet sound of power and rumble.

I stopped by the only Flowmaster Dealer listed on the Flowmaster WEB site in my area last Friday. I asked him to give me a price for the same set up you had installed.

He said dual out behind each tire, dual out straight back on both sides, or dual out right side didn't matter the price would be the same $400.00 + 6% tax for a total of $424.00.

I am not sure that is a good price or not. Does anyone have an opinion on this price?

Again ENJOY that sweet sound!

Dan

Now I just had mine welded in to repalce the factory muffler and keep the existing pipes. What's the difference I tone between single out and dual out?

First I want to agree with ckayakwa. I am in NY but gave Muffman a phone call to order his SS Tips and he gave me a LOT of insight on intakes and exhaust. Before I called him he helped out a TON in the exhaust thread's with part numbers for the FM Super 40. So super Kudos to Casey.

chevydan,
That prices is on par with what I paid:

FM Super40: $89
Install dual: $300
2 SS Tips: $60ish? I forgot, but the price was great from Casey.

So without my tips I would have been around the same price as you, I might have missed a shipping charge in the above...

Tator,
TNAV had a single out and I got a dual out Super 40's, done around the same time, before the Niagara GTG. We both went to the GTG and in listening I think my duals are slightly louder, with maybe a little deeper growl... I personally did not hear too much but TNAV thought there was a difference, as slight as it was. (I am bad at hearing difference's.

Thanks Steve, and it was great to meet you and Jayme.

ChevyDan, that is a good price, we charge around $408.00, plus the price of the stainless tips. Just make sure they take the extra time to make sure everything is just right.

Steve, I should have an idea about that gas cover by the end of the day, I'll email you.

MuffMan,

Thanks so much for the reply. I will take all of your sage advice with me when I go to do this. Just have to determine where the funding will be acquired.

Again Thanks,
Dan
