I want to install my own alarm, but I know Clifford and Viper are dealer only installed (I used to be an installer from '89 to 94). Whats the next best thing? Hornet? also does anyone have a picture of the BCM? I have a 2005

Viper, Clifford, Python, Hornet and a few more are all owned by DEI. They all have the same brain just different features.

It looks like the Hornet series is the only self-install product from DEI? I am looking at the 564T look ok?

buy the alarm you want on line. a few members here have installed their own.

I installed a Viper 791XV and later upgraded to a SST5900? So yes you can install them without being a dealer for them, but if you have a problem with it DEI Will not help you (that's what the book says? ) Here are the BCM connectors. Have you though about using a data bus interface?

Wow thanks for the information! where did you purchase the Viper?

ebay  >:D

From what I've read I need a DEI556 by pass module so I can do remote start, but you also asked if I looked into databus modules, will this eliminate the need for the 556 module?

I don't know if they have a all-in-one  ??? the bypass is for the remote start and the data bus is for stuff like door locks, driver 1 & 2 etc...

Looks like an all-in-one  good find. I used my HPTuners to turn off my passlock to save $ and time  >:D

I was just looking over the install guide, you might want to check around or call to be sure it works on an 05. (it should but it only lists up to 04)

you can email them too

DEI 457G GM Door Lock & Passlock Databus Interface

Note: For 2005, 2006+ model years, just email us at autopreservers@wowway.com with your vehicle Year-Make-Model and we will advise you if the DEI 457G is compatible with your vehicle
