I'm out working around the house, using the garden hose to wash out the dog pen. I had a piece of 4 x 4 lumber leaning against the garage near the door where inside is parked Mellow Yellow. As I pulling on the hose to put it away, I feel it catch on something. I turn around in time to see it's the bottom of the 4 x 4 and its falling into the open garage door. Know how time seems to stop and everything goes in slow motion, thats what it was like as I watched the end 4 x 4 hit the lens of the rear tail light and put a hole in it :8: :8: :E: :E:.

I'm a good 8 feet away, nothing I could do put watch :8:. After cursing myself for being so stupid I realized that I'm really lucky because anothe 1-1/2 and it would have got the tailgate and I'd be looking at $500-600 repair bill. As is I'm out $50-100 for a new lens assembly. Got to look on the bright side ;) The first scratch always hurts the most

I think you might be out more than you think, that sounds a little low.

Be sure to let us know the final cost, you never know when it's going to happen to us fellow members.

Sorry to hear about your little misfortune.

Probably true. :6:

But it's still lucky it didn't hit paint, that would probably cost a lot more than a tail light.

Of course, if it hit cladding, you probably would only be dealing with a dirt smudge. >:D

Mellow, sorry to hear about your ordeal, I hope things "heal" quickly.

of course if it were a f*rd a peice of red plastic and some duct tape would fix that for sure. :p

OK OK back to reality I think TBL is right you may be out a little more then that.

Major Bummer!!!

I recently noticed my first scar. It's obviously a door ding, and in the one place I'm not protected by the cladding --- above the wheels in the fender well. :E:
It went clear to the metal. :8: :8:

Yes, the first one hurts the worse.

Good luck with the repair.

CT. :B:

mmmmmmmmm... I was reminded today at the gas pump.
Pulled up
looked out
opened the door
smack! right into the concrete post :8:
hey... no ding

Thank goodness for cladding ;D

Yello
Your bummn'
You gave new meaning to "Gettin hosed

I know what you mean about SLOW MOTION
Late one nite back in the late 70's I was crusin in my 70 monte, with one of my drinking buddies on a hot 95deg nite

After dropping him off at his house, I was heading home and after slowing at a stop sign, a beer bottle rolled out from under the seat
I quickly grabed it and flung it out the passanger side window, but as i look up, the window was closed
So I watched the bottle in slow motion make 4-5 revolutions before disintagrating the window :7:

Still trying to figure out why he put the window up
[actually I think I know] >:D

Hey Mellow - don't let your bad luck work it's way over to my town! ;)

When my Av was a baby, I found a big paint scratch in my fender. I was so puzzled how the white scratch got on the top of the fender. Turns out that my house downspout had fallen off the house and wacked the Av. :E: D'ooohhhhhhh! I almost got the scratch completely buffed out....

Sorry to hear that - after the 1st - the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc are much easier :) - ask the guys from Texas about the holes in Blue's cladding - I am kind of like OH Well - too many dings and things on the AV
