My Av Can't Handle The Heat

GUEST
I've had my AV since October and here is the list of what I'm going to have my dealership replace.

#1 Removable Window, due to 100degree temp the expanding glass split the fiber glass frame.

#2 Rear Seal Below brake light and above the rear window, when ever it gets hot the glue melts and the seal droops or falls off,

#3 Bed Covers, three pieces are starting to sag a little bit,

#4 Power Windows/Power lock driver's door console, I filled my interior with sand last week and for some reason those buttons aren't working too well.

Has anyone had the same problems? Do you all think I should expect the dealership to fix everything for free?

Nothing to do with the heat - this was a TSB issue.

If your bed covers DO NOT have numbers on the top of them you have old style covers. We don't know why Chevy changed them out but others have had sagging covers replaced as a warranty item.

Boy howdy - I'm still brushing out the sand from the April 27th trip down to Long Beach - no issue with interior switch gear and unless you LITERALY filled your interior with sand I'm sure the General will replace the switch gear. I can't see this having anything to do with sand or heat (again unless you really did FILL the interior with sand) ;)

I've never heard of this before but it sure ain't right - I'd see the dealer on that one too...

:6:I have been looking to see if there was a post on the gasket on the back window. On the outside of the back window about 6 inches from the edge the big thick rubber gasket keeps slipping out. I have stuck it back in many times and have checked for leaks after visiting the car wash and have not had any leaks in that area. I guess the inside gasket is keeping it out. Best way i can explain it is the seal between the cladding on the sail and top of the window..
Does anyone else know anything about this item????

Thanks Chief,

Here's a stupid question: Can I take my Avalanche to any dealership to get these things fixed?

Items under warranty can be fixed under warranty at any Chevy dealer. Some have posted that they have even had warranty items taken care of by Cadillac dealers.

I know you asked Chief, but I can answer from my experiance - every Chevy dealer is obligated to perform warranty work on Chevy's (soem would even tell you Caddy dealers are in this group of Av-qualified too) even if they ar enot the one that sold you the vehicle - otherwise you would lose the benfit of a multi-year warranty if you moved. I bought my Av from a dealer 5 hours away, and am not trotting up there for warranty work, so I kindly approached local dealer and admitted they weren't the ones that sold it to me but would they be so kind, etc. kiss kiss. I think they bill back the warranty work to GM, so it's not like it is coming off of their profit margin.

Shoot, the next couple of days will reach 100 degrees. I'll be looking for these issues.

Actually both covers have numbers. The older design has recessed numbers and the new design has raised numbers. See attached photo.
