I was on my way to pick up my 14y/o son from football practice this evening driving down a backroad by my home. Saw four young boys about 6-10 y/o out playing in their yard, gave them a little wave. Looked back in my drivers side rearview mirror just in time to see them jump up and toss eggs at my Avalanche :8:
I hit the brakes, backed up and saw the little freaks running in every direction. Pulled the truck up in their yard and found their father who was to say the least just a little bit pissed at what his EVIL little children had done. >:D When I assessed the damage, most of the egg had hit the cladding around the sail panel area, but the entire drivers side from the rear door back was covered in egg. The father offered to have his little ones wash my truck, but I declined. I told HIM to take care of his kids and I would take care of my truck. When I got home and washed my truck, at first it looked as if there was no damage, but after closer inspection, there is a circular "spider-web" looking scratch where one of the eggs impacted the sail panel. :8: :8: :8:    To say the least, I'm not very happy. Guess it could have been worse though if it had hit the metal instead of the plastic cladding.
You know, maybe I should hide out by their house with a few eggs of my own and wait till I see them riding their bikes and......... >:D

I had an almost similar incident. I parked my AV under a tree and some poor bird lost an egg from her nest. I had egg on a small portion of my cladding. It took a little elbow grease to get it out.

I hope it all works out for you.

Man, hate to hear that. That kind of stuff really gets me going. I'm actually surprised that the father got angry. Now days you'd be hard pressed to find parents that gave a sh!t.

ALSO found my first egg today. It must have been there all day. hit the back of the hood and ended up on the windshield. The shield cleaned up o.k. but the egg on the hood ate into the clear coat. I used some very fine wax cleaner and you almost cannot see the damage to the clear coat but where the egg inpacted the hood it put 4 sm. holes through the paint down to primer. Deffently done buy the egg impact as you can see the clear coat dammage spread out from this spot. Trying to figure how the egg shell could do this kind of damage.....not a happy camper..........ken

I hope the father took the little $#@% inside and whipped their little butts till he was tired. :8:

As an adult, I can say that I am sorry your truck got egged - my childhood memories are full of things I did that many people would not want to hear about. ?All I can say is those kids were dumb to do that in front of their house - we always did our deeds someplace else :)

I am glad the egg didn't do any damage to your paint.

I remember last winter when a kid hit my truck with an Iceball. :8: I was with my wife and she was pregnant at that time. I slammed on the brakes. I must have been doing 20mph. The kid that threw the ice ball started to run and I caught the little EFFER >:D I picked him up by his shoulder and brought him to his mom. I told her that my wife was pregnant and she smacked him. But the best part was that dad gave me a little lip. Man, I was 2 seconds from kickin' his butt. I looked at him and made stuck my chest towards him and he backed down and went back inside. I t was funny stuff. ;D

Great story :).

I don't know if our AV was the target of a stone or if it's just because of our Colorado roads (it hasn't snowed yet), but there is a rather large dimple in the windshield. When the rock hit, it was pretty darn loud :8:. It's probably a good thing that it didn't hit any paint.

Ive got a couple dozen eggs...we can get a convoy together and chase those rascals down. >:D

:8: Had it been me and my Avalance, [screw the eggs] I would have wanted to run AV tracks up their backsides. However the concequences of being locked-up and not being able to drive Blanch  would cause me much more pain and suffering then the eggs being thrown on her :8:
I commend you on your control as you "ARE" an example to your "OWN" son. ;D

I simpathize with you Big daddy mi negro was egged 2x in my driveway in one month :8:. On both occasions I called the the men in blue and made a report. We found out it was our neighbors skater buddies and after the cops talked to them and their momma chewed their butts up and down and chased them off it came to a stop.

Being a part time cop- Sometimes these thing happen as the PUNKS are looking for attention. The get a rise out of your getting wrecked and upset.
Do not let them see you MAD. Just make their sorry lives miserable and call the men in blue and get it documented.

Later-

I feel your pain...for some reason that sort of thing is still a tradition amongest the kids in the area around here as well.....the night before Halloween is always a tense time for car owners around here......seems as though these little vandals have graduated from eggs to actually keying cars, soap bars etc.....it's out of control.....

The best thing I have found to work, is to put on the ole' marine camo...paint the face...and lay in the prone position out in the bushes in front of the house.....wait for one of these suckers and then nail em with a paint gun.....you should see the look on there faces.... :B:

I must say...i'm not proud of some of my childhood deeds either, but like you...we didn't do them front of our OWN house!

Sorry to here you got egged.. :6:

Gersh dern it -- after visiting with relatives tonight and heading back to the Av, I noticed someone had UNLOADED on it. :6: At least 6 eggs cracked on the front, drivers side, top, and back of Av. :7: They even left the egg container behind the Av. :8: What a burn.

Many other cars were hit in the area. The grocery store must have had a sale.

I tried washing, but it looks like the paint damage has already been done. We'll have to see what it looks like in the light tomorrow. :p

Regarding my previous post, the eggs nailed the Av so hard it cracked through the paint. Three nice new starburst patterns near the handle on the driver's door and one on the tailgate. At least I can see the nice grey primer now. :6:

yea i hate kids i got egged today on my passanger door it is right infront of the handle my truck was parked and it got hit and its so cold up here that the egg froze to it but it left a bunch of circular scraches down to the primer and now i have to get the whole door repainted cause my truck is black and i wonder how much it will cost anyone know?

I got hit with egg the other weekend. I was driving with my window down, cause some friends and I were playing cobras. Some punks drove by the opposite way and threw egg, it went in my window and is all over everything :7::8: :8: :8:, there is egg in places I didn't think it could get, I tried to catch them but it's a 55MPH and by the time I was turned around, they were gone. I'm a kid/adult, but I don't go around egging people.

yea dont get me worng im a kid/adult too. but where i was was all kids like i mean high schoolers. so im compleatly pissed about it

My truck was egged April 1, 2002. (Not only April Fool's Day, but also my birthday.) Mom asked me to drive her to the supermarket and when I walked around, I saw it. The egg impacted just at the top of the drivers side sideview mirror and bounced, hitting the window and splattering before finally hitting the B pillar. I was upset, but we drove to the carwash to wash it off. Once cleaned, that is when I noticed four large chips in the paint beneath the yolk, right down to the primer. (Each chip was approximately half the diameter of a dime, in a semi-circle pattern, probably from where the shell hit.) I took photographs and went to the police department. These people make my dealership look ambitious and helpful. They went outside and looked at it and told me they would write up a report and mail it to me for insurance purposes. Almost 10 months later and I have received nothing.

I went to another dealership for cladding work and while there asked about their bodyshop. They recommended not using insurance because even though vandalism is not supposed to increase my insurance rate, he said it is still possible it might, or that they simply won't lower it as quickly. So instead of paying my $250 deductible, I paid the full $300. (My original dealership said it would cost nearly $1,000 which is why I waited this long to do anything. When I found out it would only cost $300, I did not hesitate.) It now looks as good as new. It also got rid of a mark where I bumped a ticket dispenser when opening the door to get the ticket. :)

The good: I found a new dealership with an incredible bodyshop. Lifetime warranty on everything.
The bad: He is too good. Since he guarantees everything for life, he will not paint my cladding because he will not guarantee it for the life of the truck.

Oh well, you win some and you lose some. I think the good outweighs the bad in this one. :)

I had this happen with my 97 z71, It spidered the paint on the tailgate and also damaged the paint. Eggs usually ALWAYS cause damage. I don't know who did mine but If I were you, I would get an estimate and make daddy pay for it. Chances are the paint will discolor after being hit with eggs even if you don't see the damage now.
