My Avalanche Is A Terrorist And So Am I

"I helped hijack an airplane.
I helped blow up a nightclub.
So what if it gets 11 miles to the gallon.
I gave money to a terrorist training camp in a foreign country.
It makes me feel safe.
I helped our enemies develop weapons of mass destruction.
What if I need to go off-road?
Everyone has one.
I helped teach kids around the world to hate America.
I like to sit up high.
I sent our soldiers off to war.
Everyone has one.
My life, my SUV.
I don't even know how many miles it gets to the gallon."
WHAT IS YOUR SUV DOING TO OUR NATIONAL SECURITY? ?:D:
These people make me sick! :D:

Those who DO NOT support sensable Oil exploration in Alaska's ANWR supports the Terrorist's!

You get 11 MPG?!!

snif sniff

I sure wish I got that kind of Milage with my AV :6:

Still wouldn't trade it for the world... well maybe the world >:D

What a rediculous set of false logic!
I wonder if this is the same group the torches SUVs sitting in dealerships (of course they use gas to do it).
I'm quite sure they don't run around all winter in a horse and buggy. I once owned an old beat-up Bronco II. My Av does about 4 mpg better than it did...

I first read this post and was totally confused. Turns out last night on the news they were talking about this special interest group who was trying to convince Americans that driving an SUV supports the Terrorists just as using buying drugs does. They say that all the money you spend on gas eventually finds it's way into terrorist bank accounts. The news also went on to say that this has been unsubstantiated and the networks are refusing to show it.

I just had to . . .

OK, here's my attitude about this truck. It is NOT an SUV, so to speak. It isn't one of those big school bus looking things that affluent people take their kids to soccer practice in (NO OFFENSE HERE, I WISH I COULD AFFORD ONE MYSELF). An Avalanche has the abilities of a pick up. People use pick ups as work horses every day. I'd like to see contractors and farmers using a smart car to haul around their daily needs. My truck doesn't always haul more than groceries, but sometimes I actually do open up that bed. If we and our trucks are targets to such hate, what about the SUV manufacturers themselves? They've gotta' be the "drug" dealers in this scenario. Some people just want someone, anyone to blame. It is really starting to get out of hand.

I feel better now ;)

How many of those folks walked or rode a bicylce to the press conference? I am willing to bet a few of those "celebs" rode there in a (10 mpg) limo. What a bunch of hypocrites...

It is the same hypocrisy that results in someone like Sean Penn going to Iraq and trying to influence foreign policy. I just hate it when the "celebrities" come out for their causes. They have been spoiled and coddled for years, and so far removed from reality. Now if we could convince everyone not to be influenced by their nonsensical views, we'd all be better off.

The 'leader' of this h0rsesh*t group, Ms. Huffington was speaking yesterday on Sean Hannity's radio show. A little research revealed that she lives in a 9000 sq. ft. house. Heated with what? Either oil or gas and she's adding to the Osama's bank account also, and if she heats with wood (yeah, right) she should be the next target of the tree huggers! :D:

Ever notice that when the news reports of an SUV getting involved in an accident they report will say that the "SUV" rolled over, or that the "SUV" ran a red light and then killed innocent people in the Toyota sedan? Seems like the "SUV" is capable is independent thought, doesn't it?

Why don't they say that a DRIVER, who was driving an "SUV" rolled over, or the same thing with the light running senario?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything along those lines, but I do believe that there is a connection between reports such as those and organizations like The Detroit Group and to the extreme, anti-SUV groups such as the Sierria Club?

They all influence the public's perception of how a person, or in this case, a vehicle is perceived.
Just something to think about......

This must be relating to the limited TV spots (only shown in LA, Detroit and a couple of other venues that I can't remember) that indicate these big cars/trucks use so much gas that everytime you fill up you are helping finance mid-east terrorists.
They don't bother to mention that your Honda fill up would accomplish the same thing, on a lesser scale.
They also fail to mention that only something like 11% of our crude supply comes from the mid-east. Sure a small, very small, amount that you pay at the pump goes to the country that produced the oil.
The "informercial" would like you to believe that we are totally dependent on mid-east oil. Actually the majority of our foreign crude comes from Canada and South America.
Note that Norman Lear is one of the "sponsers", I'll bet that his limo burns more gas than my Avalanche.

Another sort of related point, I understand that Ford is dropping the Excursion. Have we finally reached the point of "Just too d___ big"?

Sounds like Ms. Huffington is making a big Huff. ;D

In Sociology there is a word that describes her statements. It is a "Social Entrepreneur". She's creating a platform so that everyone sees her. Now I'm just waiting for her to endorse Al Gore.

That's a shame. While I don't really like the truck, everyone I know who owns one has a legitimate need for a truck that size.

The all the Media outlets think the same. They have a very leftist view of things. It's amazing at times some of the arguments I hear them make. Ballistic Fingerprinting was the last one that had me on the floor laughing. If you don't feel safe driving around so many big trucks then you should buy a big truck.

Going back to the gas issue, one justification for driving a Gas Guzzling truck is that we want to deplete all the oil reserves as fast as we can so that we force everyone off oil quicker.

This is one of those issues that started off as a joke that uninformed people picked it up as a cause. Unfortunatly we will never be able to stop things like this from happening. All we can do is bring the misrepresenations under control then whittle thier mis-logic down till people actully understand. The anti-suv sites will love this.

This is an article on the subject...

TV Commercials Link SUVs, Terror Funds
Wed Jan 8, 8:36 PM ET Add U.S. National - AP to My Yahoo!

By NADA EL SAWY, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES - A group hoping to lessen U.S. reliance on foreign oil on Wednesday debuted two television ads that link gas-guzzling sport utility vehicles to terrorist funding.

The ads mimic spots that link drug money to terrorism.

One commercial features a child's voiceover and shows a man filling his gas tank and footage of terrorist training. The closing statement: "Oil money supports some terrible things. What kind of mileage does your SUV get?"

The other ad shows people talking about their SUVs. One says, "My kids think it's cool." Another says, "I helped blow up a nightclub."

The 30-second ads were created for The Detroit Project, a nonprofit launched by syndicated columnist Arianna Huffington. They will begin airing Sunday in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington and Detroit.

"This campaign is not designed to demonize SUV owners," Huffington said. "We want to encourage customers to connect the dots and make socially responsible consumer choices."

The ads were written and directed by Scott Burns, who was part of the creative team responsible for "Got Milk." They are intended as parodies, Burns said.

The ads were turned down by several TV stations ? WABC in New York, KABC and KCBS in Los Angeles and WDIV in Detroit, according to campaign publicists Fenton Communications.

Huffington said the stations found them "controversial." The ads will air on "Face the Nation" and "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

The Detroit Project was created by Americans for Fuel Efficient Cars, a group co-founded by Huffington, film producer Lawrence Bender, environmental activist Laurie David, and movie and TV agent Ari Emanuel.

The ads ? which cost $50,000 to make and $175,000 for air time ? were paid for through donations.

Sam Kazman, general counsel of the Competitive Enterprise Institute, criticized the ads as "elitist nonsense." The institute is a business lobby that favors a nongovernment approach to regulatory issues.

Alright you fanatics, I know you are lurking in the shadows. I've come up with a few more causes for you:

School buses. Now that is a waste of fuel. Parents must be able to drop off/pick up kids from school daily. And the accidents and traffic snarls they cause? Heck, school bus drivers don't need jobs, right?

Tractor-trailers. What a menace on the road. Let's just transport everything via the railroad. If you don't have a business or home near a railway, then you are out of luck. I wonder how those smart cars will get to their dealerships.

Emergency vehicles/law enforcement. All they do is drive around all day. Is it possible that those that are meant to serve and protect are supporting terrorism by the amount of fuel they use?

Pizza delivery men. You know they are making A LOT of trips when they've gotta get that veggie pizza to you in 30 minutes or less.

I could go on. I think I've made my point. Though I still wonder how I could have become a target when my choice of vehicle has no bearing on the dependency on terrorists for foriegn oil. Apparently that decision was made without MY vote. Let's not point out that there are untapped resources for oil in Africa and South America.

Isn't the AV classified as a pickup truck anyway?! Regarding poor fuel economy: What about the combat jet fighter pilot and his fuel guzzling warbird? Does he support terrorism? What freaking planet are these people from anyway?

Why not aim at minivans and large cars as well? My V-6 Ford Windstar only got 16-17 mpg around town, while the Av gets 14-15 mpg. What's the big difference?

Part of the reason I bought the Av was to pull my camper to a campground. I like to vacation in a simple campground. Simple campgrounds use very little foreign oil, as far as I can tell. So while my Av gets 15 mpg getting me to my vacation, I use very little else when I'm there.

I'm almost positive that Ms. HUFF ington does not camp on her vacations. I'm sure she stays in nice resorts, probably on an island somewhere. Guess how much oil is used by a jet to fly her to her destination, and how much energy to build and run the resort she stays in??

The is all hypocrisy with a capital H. She is just like the Al Sharptons of the world. Their "job" is to start up useless causes and get themselves in the news. They don't really care about anything in particular, except themselves and their egos.

Ironically the left wingers want us to reduce our dependence on foerign oil, but they don't want us to drill for new oil reserves in Alaska. You can't have it both ways. :8:
