I know I'm not the first to do this but thought I'd post my build anyway.  I have been running at pair of MTX Thunder 3000's for the last few years.  I got em on the cheap from a friend along with an MTX amp.  I've been running them in the bandpass box that he had in his Firebird.  The box was set in the bed behind the midgate on the Avy.  They sounded okay but were very muffled as you might expect.  So I've been looking around at other options and I've seen a few people that intergrated their box into their midgate.  I never use my gate so integrating seemed to be my best option.  So long story short after talking to a shop here in town they wanted to charge me $450 to build a box.  I decided that was too much and I'd be able to make one myself.  So with the help of my Uncle I built my own today.  I know the speakers are old, and my amp isn't great, but DAYUM the difference with the new box is amazing.  Here are some of the build pics.  It's not the best built, but being my first box I think it's pretty good.

I may put the brackets on for the top of the midgate but I'm not sure.  It stays in place and there is no wind noise.  We'll see in the next few days.

Very nice job, so don't use the 8 foot bed :dunno:

I very rarely have the need for the full bed.  If I do happen to need it the gate still functions and will fold down.  That will leave enough space to slide just about anything I'd carry in the bed/cab.  I am also going to buy a new set of brackets for my stock gate, that way it can be a very easy swap if I need the box out of the way.

looks good. i am in the process of building mine to hold 2 15 subs, ported tuned to 30 hz. i will be running 6000 watts to them, until i can get my 8000 amp.

Nice look good just put bed liner on it & im about to get one made myself
