Had to remove my hood and fender stripes this weekend due to the vinyl stripe tearing.
It took me over 4 hours between 2 days just to clean off the gum residue from the hood and fender. Sadly after all the work involved, I'm not sure I'll be putting those back on again.
That's how I was with mine I was like there cool but they lived there life.

It has taken 2 weeks to get the b pillars stripped and there is still adhesive from my vent visors  (n) I finally found an eraser wheel tonight, unfortunately my drill is in storage in Wy. I could have sworn it was here  :E:

Carb cleaner will quote off plasti dip real quick I figured out by chance along with liquor thinner but that stuff could take off paint too.

All of a sudden Nationals are less than 2 months away and I realize I still lot a long list of mods that need to be done or redone and maintenance stuff that needs to be taken care off. I better hustle up if I am going to get everything that I want done in time for Nationals.

Yup join the club... I am hoping to just get my computer and stereo hooked up before then... ;)

Not even going to try to get the headlights done before nationals...

Might end up missing out on Nationals if I get this Internship though.. But just found out about it today.. I have to do an intern ship for my Degree...

Ha, at this rate, if we make it, I'll probably be a repeat winner of the Av that needs the most help award.  :9:

LOL. I'm hoping to retain the kids choice award and I'm coming after Mr. Jay for the most unique mod award this year.
The judge walked right by my truck last year and didn't take the time to look inside. tsk tsk  :beating:

Yes Mr. Jay I'm coming after that award so be warned.

I still have to finish the suspension, figure out what the hell is causing my issues with my second alternator, build a new midgate and finish the rest of the system install. Then I have a mod in progress that might give you a run for the money on the most unique mod award, but it's doubtful I'll have time to get it complete in the next two months.  not to mention I got rear ended (AGAIN, this is the third time) so I have to pull the bumper pads and cover, replace the support and a back up sensor, then spray the new cover and pads and put it all back on before I can get started on anything else

Guess I'm gonna have to pull out the big guns.

you should put a steel bumper on it so when it happens you go you cost me $500 in paint and body damage.  Get home break out a $10 can of spray paint and tada its fixed!

Finally some tangible progress. Glad I persevered even when all looked lost.

LOL. That was what I worked on today.

Disassembled the light to put the halo ring in. I used the dremel to create a channel to allow the RGB wires to come out. I siliconed the channel so moisture does't get in there. At this point I got so engrossed I forgot to take more pics until I was done.

That looks awesome! I'm not a huge fan of how much they cover the reflectors in the cube but I don't know a better that way and it's sweet. I want to add them to mine someday too but gotta et through school first.

Yeah I was a lot concerned about that too. There is no other way to get them in there though. I also looked at the external ones Oracle sells but no one seems to have them and they're mad expensive. In fact the only 2 places on the whole world web that lists the Oracle cube halo are Jegs and AAC Style. Jegs sells theirs for $56.00 per halo with free shipping. Yes they're not even sold in pairs. I had ordered them from Jegs a month ago when I first started this project. They were on backorder then and they're still on backorder now. Every couple of days when I called Jegs the estimated restocking date goes back by a week. Its to the point I have lost faith in getting them at all. AAC Style on the other hand lists the same halo for $65 per halo and charges $25.30 for shipping which in my opinion is ridiculous. I called them and asked if there are other methods of shipping and was told that due to the insurance they put on the items they ship That's the price and they won't ship without to protect themselves.

I'm going to test them side by side tomorrow and see how the halo ring affects the light output. If it affects it too much it's coming right back out. The pods are spot beams so I hope to see a little interference.

I knwi I saw a set that replaced that fron plate I'm not sure if that's the external ones your refering too or not. But as far as the shipping on that one set $25 for something that you could fit a pair in a normal envelope.  Something else you might look into have you heard of EL wire?

Now I've bee debating with myself whether to paint the projector shroud black or to leave it chrome. I'm not sure which would look better and once painted there really is no going back. Decisions  :E:

Try plasti dipping it first?

The halos don't affect the spot beam much. however I decided not to go with them. Rather than pull it back off and ruin the adhesive holding it on to the reflector in the housing, I decided to order a new pair of cube lights and will take one from the set. Eventually I will put the other halo ring in the other cube and sell it to someone who wants it more than I do

Test fitting on the Avalanche.
I haven't sealed it back up as I am waiting to do the other side first. I want to be damn sure that everything is duplicated exactly on the other side.

Light is aimed low in this pic but I did that to try to show the cutoff which is still not clear in the picture.
The projector can still be adjusted using the adjustment bolt in the back to the headlamp assembly.

Couldn't get a better pic with the light on as the iphone kept adjusting.
In these pics the projector is actually off. Only the halo ring is on at the moment

The only thing I am iffy about right now is that glaringly white halo ring. It is nice and bright but I am thinking it might be nice to get a headlight tint film and cover it.
Not too dark but a smoke gray at least to tone it down.
And now I have to also decide where to put the strobe bulb I had to move.

More decisions to make on this project.

Do your halos do blue/amber? If so I would be interested I the halo rings for the cubes

It's an RGB halo ring. It can do any color you want as well as flash as strobes. It will require another remote control unit though to set the colors and switch between them as desired since the current one will be used in my truck. The remote control unit also has the option to adjust the amount of red, blue, and green to make a custom color and and save it to memory. I was thinking of buying the remote control unit and sell the whole thing as a set but that may be expensive. You have the option to just get the cubes with the halos installed and buy the controller yourself.
