Looks like my truck may get a chance to spot some ambers up in Jax without me.

Wife is headed to a golf outing next wek (Wed/Thur/Fri).  I don't have the details as to the location yte, but when I do I'd love some input from folks as to the smartest way to get to where she's staying & where the golfing is so she doesn't end up in the wrong part of town (FireStarter's area, of course >:D )

So, for those seeing a red WBH with a stump-modded rear bumper, it's not really me :)

Why is she driving the AV anyway? Room for golf clubs?

Comfort. ?Not that it's much bigger than the Impala, but for longer trips she really prefers it. ?Seeing over vehicles, etc.

The Impala will easily handle several sets of golf clubs, a couple of dead bodies, a cooler and a few other things all in the trunk :)

Guess I should add I was just kidding huh?

 to bad you're not coming with... my clubs need dusting off :p Too bad she wont be here for TPC...it's quite the spectacle.  What course is she playing at? I have three within a quarter mile of my house. Windsor Parke (public), Glen Kernan (private) & Jacksonville Golf & CC (semi-private)... then you have TPC, Marsh Landing, Ponte Vedra, & the Plantation all within a couple miles...  Lots of great hotels out this way...so just let us know

My club is also in need of dusting off.

keep it clean...keep it clean...Maybe that wouldn' be the case if she wasn't always leaving to go "out of town"...yeah right, is that what you kids are calling "it" these days :p

I may take tomorrow off just to go play a few holes. :p

that sounds close to me....how about a 3 way, er, 3some >:D

Would I have to wear the Argus hat? :)

I already have to go to Plant City in the morning.

Sounds like I should schedule a day over that way :)  1/2 day shop, 1/2 day 9 holes?

OK, she will be playing at Deer Creek Country Club and staying at the Casa Marina Hotel.  Any insights?  Thanks!

Deer Creek... very nice. I have a friend with a membership there but then they ended up building in St Johns county but he still golfs there. awesome course from what ive heard. Casa Marina is awesome. Havent been there since it was a rave club ;) back in the early 90s.... but they did one heck of a job restoring the place. Its beautiful!!! Ive eaten there but it was years ago and it was just o.k.

see here: http://www.casamarinahotel.com/history.html

Some good "non-chain" restaraunts at the beach (reservations suggested): Eleven South-which is open for lunch, too;Chef Geralds, Marker 32, Dwight's (non-reservations and a little more casual) the Homestead, Mojo's Blues Kitchen,? Al's Pizza (best pizza in Jax)...there's also a new restaraunt - a brazilian steak house just across the street from CM and Ive heard it was really good... and oh yeah...tell her there's some great evening entertainment at Bo's Coral Reef...just around the corner from the hotel >:D

I think she'll pass on Bo's, thanks anyway. :)  She's locked in for dining schedules and all with this - it's a work-related golf event.

Any areas enroute there to avoid or be careful of?  Any tree stumps nearby that can randomly attack a truck?

hehe... yeah tree stumps... I, ah, bent the frame on Mom's caddy on a darn tree stump... but they built a strip mall over it so i think youre safe now :)

she's in a relatively speaking safe part of town. the only thing i would caution them on is walking on the beach too late at night. where she's staying is pretty much "downtown north jacksonville beach"... and although its pretty safe, there sometimes can be an abundance of "residentially challenged" folks that sleep on the beach right in that area.
oh and tell her not to miss Rita's... only a couple blocks away (walking distance)... BEST frozen custard and Italian Ice!

and oh yeah...you can give her my cell phone number if she has any questions or needs directions or gets lost or something ;)

Doubt she'll be out roaming the beach.  The post-dinner BS goes on and on and on at these things until everyone finally collapses to their rooms.

I just wanted to be sure she's not headed through rough areas of town shuttling between the two locations or anything.  Thanks for the cell offer!

She really does appreciate the cell phone offer.

Hope I'm not setting myself up for something here :D

nope, no rough areas... she'll actually pass right by my house shuttling back and forth (well, within about a half mile) and it's only about 15 minutes from the hotel to Deercreek... I dont think they could even get lost if they wanted to... but if something happen or she just wants a food suggestion tell her to call me (y) (and no, youre not setting yourself up for anything... unless she wants me to help her plan a big birthday surprise for you >:D )
