Welcome, Insurance Man (Troy).

Glad to see another Nebraska Av.

At least, all those miles will be comfortable.

...it has been fun to get back into a truck!!
I know that feeling well.

If you can, come join us at our next GTG (that's get together). It'll give you a chance meet other Av owners in our area.

Again, welcome aboard.

Thanks Av-N-Taz, I will keep my eye out for the GTG, that will be a lot of fun. You are definately correct on the miles being comfortable!! I use to own a Tahoe, and it is night and day on how much better of a ride the Av's are to them. Anyways, hello to everyone and I look forward to meeting all of you.

:B: Well, looks like this is the place to introduce myself. I'm George (AA=Avalanches Anonymous?), and I was one of Marks guests at the GTG. I bought my arrival blue 'lanche about a year ago when my kids outgrew the back seat of my Silverado. I really liked the GM trucks and wanted a little more pulling power to haul a motorcycle trailer around (had a six in the K1500). The Avalanche is doing it all just great, and has seen three oceans in 12 months / 25,000 miles. I'm a cheap bastard, so I like being able to "camp" out in the back whilst traveling cross country. Took her to Moab a couple of months ago, not too much Avalanche content, but some nice scenery at: www.creighton.edu/~gbb/moab. I did some searching on the web trying to find out if anyone has ever taken an Avalanche through the White Rim Trail. I didn't find anything. I think it could be done, but no-one broke down so I didn't have to find out. Anyway, nice meeting some of you last Sat.

It was nice meeting you, also, George.

That's some serious mileage . At least it's a comfortable ride (y).

Hope to see you at another GTG. Or, maybe we can put together a cruise of some kind.

just wondering if you guys do anything to tell each other your on this club with you avys. Ive heard of people saying amber drls. what are these?

nick

Hey Nick, welcome to the club (also Hi to George too!). Amber DRL's (daytime running lights) are sort of a club ID badge, although not unique to Av's it certainly is a noticeable change when you do see one coming at you. So for a mere 3 or 4 bucks you get a cheap ID badge that lets others know you're one of the gang. Check here for full info on this mod:

(don't worry about that thread title!)

I've had amber DRL's since about the 2nd day I had my Av. I've also modded them to remain on all the time (full-time DRL's), thus, they stay on whether the headlights and fog lights are on or not. Another mod that's nice is the 4-light headlight mod, this one keeps the low-beam bulbs lit even when the hi-beam bulbs are on. It adds quite a lot to the brightness factor on high!

One other quick comment about the DRL's: since the two versions of Avalanches (cladded and WBH) use two different front clips, the location of the DRL's is quite different, as would be the directions on how to get to them. I think the bulbs are the same, however.

On the cladded Av's, the DRL's are right next to the fog lights low on the bumper. On the WBH's (the nekkid Av's) the DRL's are just below the headlights, next to the turn signals, above the bumper.

Nick...WELCOME!!!!

402AVA....WELCOME!!!

Cladding painters huh.....hmmmm. I can probably recommend a few places.

What kind of AV do you have 402?

Feel free to call on any of us for mod help.

CT.

I saw you a couple of weeks ago way out on Q st.? Good thing you have the big green bowtie, I knew exactly who it was :^)

yeah, I haven't been having much time to jump in much either lately, the last few months have been pretty hectic.  I also noticed that not too many people were chatting, so I didn't post either.  This is kind of a boring time of year if you ask me, I will be excited when I can wash my Av and get it all shined back up again and it will actually stay for more than a week!!

Anways, I am still around and checking in, just off to side watching for now.

Hope to see you all again soon sometime, maybe a campfire kind of get together for all of the locals around the Fremont/Omaha/Blair area.  I usally have a get together twice a year at my family's place in Ponca Hills, With the Finished Pole Barn and 2 1/2 acres to park, we never run out of room.  The biggest get together thus far, about 118 people for a bombfire grillout party.  It lasted way into the night.  But anyways, that is the fun times that I look forward to during the years.

Later everyone, I have to get back to the phone calls and tasks of the daily grind of the insurance business.

Hey, pennfold, where were you? How'd I miss your ambers?

Must have been before I added my "Four Fenders"...
index.php

So, rarely do I see any ambers, I would have remembered spotting you.

Speaking of spotting ambers, I saw ChevyThunder's old blue Av, a couple weekends ago. The wife and I were headed to Plattsmouth and I spotted her north bound on Hwy 75.

Hi, Insurance Man. How've you been?

Was it you that had the problem with the CD stuck in the player?
How'd that come out?

EJ.

Just went through the CD fiasco. Dealer swapped out the radio for a new one. Dealers are not allowed work on the radios (that includes opening them up to retrieve a CD) so they repair center mails back the CD to the dealer. Yeah right.... I believe that when I see it. Had my new radiosswapped out in 30 minutes.

Later,
Sean

Just checking in.  Had my AV since May, 18,000 miles already. This weekend put in amber DRLs, Full time DRLs, All 4 on high. mods per instructions on this site, simple and only took 1/2 hour. Does anyone know if the full time DRLs are street legal? I work in Omaha (old mill area) hope to see you folks on the road.

rls475,

AWESOME!!!!! WELCOME!!!!!

There are a ton of AV's around here and only about a dozen members. Glad to have you. We are spread out all over Omaha. I live in Bellevue and work on Offutt. Hope to see you around.

Sean

Hey rls475, welcome to the group.? Yeah, it's been a bit of a dry season on posting lately, but I suspect that will change with the nicer weather starting to show up.

I've had full-time DRL's for a couple of years, along with 4-light high beams, and the Line of Fire out back.? I've never had any kind of run-in with the law (ChevyThunder would say it's because I drive too slow**) over my lights.? Sometimes I read these posts from Av owners in other states, particularly back East, and wonder what all the ruckus is about.? I mean, don't they have any other crime to worry about than some guy with some extra lights on his vehicle?

** CT, my GPS unit registered a max speed of 85.3 mph the other day during a trip up US 73 from Atchison, KS.......? ;)

rls475,  Welcome to the club.

If you see me you'll know it. Full-time Amber DRL's, All4OnHi, 4brake lights. Plus my green bowtie on the front, FBI, stands for "First Born Irish". And, I've only seen one other '02 SOM Av in our area.

Be sure to "Flash to Pass" when you spot other ambers.

We need another GTG.

Hey all.  The wather is getting nice out, why don't we try for another Sam and Louies GTG.  Nothing special just a way for new folks to meet the old folks and the old folks to say hi again.....cause they have been busy planning their wedding... :cautious:
Maybe end of March beginning of April.  S&L on 180th & Q?
I need an excuse to get out of the house and have some barley pop and pizza.
