Can anyone help me with paperwork from GM or Tristar on max trailerweight on a 2002 and/or 2003 2500 series?

Need it to get the paperwork for my car in Norway.

You can find that info in our "Resources" section of this website:
This is what it says about a 2002 2WD 2500 AV:

Payload & Towing Towing Capacity with 3.73 Axle 10,400 pounds
Towing Capacity with 4.10 Axle 12,000 pounds
Standard Payload 2,247 pounds
Gross Vehicle Weight (GWV) 8,600 pounds
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR): 17,000 pounds

You can also check for 4wd avalanches:
Towing Capacity with 3.73 Axle 10,100 pounds
Towing Capacity with 4.10 Axle 12,000 pounds
Standard Payload 1,958 pounds
Gross Vehicle Weight (GWV) 8,600 pounds
Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR): 17,000 pounds

It also has other years, It also has copies of the owner's manuals and other info too.
I hope this helps you.

another way is to read door sticker for GCWR
Gross combination weight rating and subtract truck & paylod

what I have read a good number for truck & light payload weight is 6600 lbs

2002 2500 (2wd or 4wd) w/3.73 ratio GCWR = 17,000 lbs - Tow 10,400lbs
2002 2500 (2wd or 4wd) w/4.10 ratio GCWR = 19,000 lbs - Tow 12,000lbs

So these are GMS limits for the truck.

now check the HITCH as it has its own rating with the sticker on it.
It has max tow weight and tongue weight for normal tow or weight distributed tow.

If you plan to tow anything above 5000lbs scrap the factory hitch and buy stronger aftermarket hitch talked about in many threads on here.

If you need actual paperwork for some government agency -
I would send emails to Chevy customer service and ask for towing capacities for the model and year you have.

Would they take brochures?
Maybe find old brochure on Ebay?
