Hey guys I am fishing for interest in the club. Is anyone interested in Colored Silicone radiator hoses and vaccuum hoses for the Avalanche??

I am trying to find the GM part numbers for the hoses under the hood. The silicone hoses would be custom manufactured by a company in england that makes silicone hoses for race industry and aerospace.

Potential colors are glossy blue, red, yellow, orange, black, purple.

I spoke to the manufacturer and is willing to make a prototype kit if I can drum up some interest. cost right now is unknown and will depend on how many hoses are in the kit. The kit would also include all necessary aerospace hose clamps...not your Napa $0.39 clamp.

Sound off...Let me know if you think this is something you may be interested in...

Any questions, I will do my best to answer.

??? ??? ???

Are you tal;king about samco sport i have there hoses on my 95 impala i would be down for some ornage hoses there is another compnay in cerritos,ca thermal flex they made me some customsilicone hose to fit my 95 impla to complement my samco hoses. Also they were working on raditor hoses. There # is 562-926-9090. hope that helps

It is Samco. I would like to know what hoses you would want...I want to make the kit that makes the most sense....Most of the times when these guys make a kit they don't really know what will sell....ala you had to have some additional hoses made....

So let me know what would be your ideal kit. and I will gather the responses...I have a 2003 WBH and will take some pics under the hood this weekend..

Let me repeat...I am looking for GM partnumbers if anyone has any worst case scenario is I go buy a set from the dealer...

That sounds really interesting. Similar appearance to the braided hose cover route. What do you think the comparison in cost would be between the hose covers and the colored hose?

Depending upon cost, I'm in.

Also would love to know if there is a pre-configured set of braided hose covers that anyone is using. PM me, thanks. -Carl

Highly interested if quality is strong and hoses are not just painted type. Dark Red and Dark Blue are my preferences. Cost will be determining factor. Not interested in changing to colored hoses for undercarriage area. Also, the radiator hose is not entirely visible but would be good in a color. The upgrade quality clips will be a big help. Please keep us posted. Wold the manufacturer be making these with the same specs used for the racing industry or just experimental for the Av's??

Thanks guys for the response...to answer some questions that have been posted. The quality of the product will not be compromised, It will be the same quality product that Samco makes for all product lines. I am not aware of the prices of the sleeve covers, but can only imagine that since this is a product that is High Quality silicone hose and not just a nice cover the price may be significanlty more. The price will basically depend on the number of hoses. If I keep the kit to the simple Upper and lower radiator hose then the price shouldn't be bad.

After I get some part numbers, which I am actively researching, I am told the process to get a sample kit manufactured could take as long as two months, that is because they will need to manufacture the tooling to make the hoses specific to the 5.3 engine. Once the sample kit is manufactured, It will be blue, I will install in on my Stealthalanche and take Photos a plenty. When I have the photos, I will also be able to give you prices.

So far this is what I would call the Market Research time, as soon as the manufacturere tells me they have started on the tooling, then I will be excited. Still checking to see if White is a possibility of color.

There are other manufacturers of silicone or silicone wrapped products, but none of them put their products on F1 cars.

Here is an example of the blue hoses, this street squirrel has turbo and the like, but look at the 90* bend with the 1/4" off shoot on the lower right..that is not easy to accomplish.

I will keep everyone posted.

Looks very nice.

Alright guys..I have a 2003 WBH and I only found 4 hoses on my truck.

Radiator upper, radiator lower, Res. Inlet and Res Outlet. I will post photos tomorrow.

when I ordered the 4 hoses from the dealer to send to UK, the dealer told me that I was missing a 5th hose. something about a T connector for the heater hose and the reservoir. Does the NON WBH model have something different??

If someone with a cladded Ave can take some pics and when i post mine, we can compare...

Anyway, as soon as the 5 GM hoses come in, I will be shipping them across the pond for mockup...should be about 2 months before I have a completed set installed ...I know it is a long time, but they have to make the tooling for it. That Radiator upper is a mother of a hose.

Does anyone see any hoses that I may be missing.

Is that a mirror(like) on the under hood? I like that. where/how/$$$/etc...?

OK, I just took a quick look. For the record I have a cladded 2002 with 5.3 engine.

The heater hoses look like straight generic hose stock, so that's probably why they would not be part of a special kit.

The reservoir hose is custom molded, and goes from the reservoir to the top of the radiator on the passenger side. I see no T connection. (Maybe it's hidden under the intake?)

I also see another set of molded hoses: from the middle of the passenger side of the radiator (between the lower radiator and reservoir hoses) to the throttle body, and then from the throttle body to the passenger side cylinder head, under the fuel rail. Is this something to consider?

SHape shifter,

I see the hose that you spoke of at the bottom of your post and cannot locate a part number for it. If I can locate it, I may also be able to use this as part of the kit.

Here is pic of the Lower Reservoir host that goes to a Y-joint at the water pump. The bottom of the Y is the Ler Resovoir hose and the top of the Y one of the heater hoses. The second heater hose connetion is just outside of the photo at the very top.

The small hose collar that says "ENG UP" in the upper right of the photo is the 20.00 5th hose that the dealer was speaking of. Do you have this Y connection on the 2002??

In your picture UnknownHoseOutOfRad..JPG, there are some numbers stamped in blue: 15190788. Is this the part number?

Yes, I do. I guess I didn't climb up high enough to look that far down in the engine last time. Sorry. :-[

In fact, , working from memory, all of your pictures look substantially the same as my engine. The biggest difference I have noticed so far is the upper hose between the coolant reservoir and the radiator: yours is covered in length of braiding, mine is naked.

Next time I go out to look at it, I will take the laptop with me so I can compare your pictures and my engine more closely.

BTW, just to be clear, I am just answering your questions to give a cladded 2002 perspective. Do not put me down as interested in a set at this time.

Your Unknown Hoses Run Through the throttle body(Flowing Coolant) to keep it from freezing. ?I would definitely like to see them added to the kit.

Remove your air plenum and Top Engine cover and you will be able to seem them quite clearly.
