Hello every one. I have read a lot of helpfull stuff here thanks.

I need help. My av is stuck at Home Depot . It wont turn over or even click, batt good, and all the lights and guages work. I found the 40 amp maxi fuse for the ignition blown so i replaced it all that happened was the fuse blew again. I am thinking starter, solenoid, or ignition switch any ideas?

I tried banging the sterter didnt help but couldnt get a good shot at it.

Thanks for the welcome I have been reading for a few years but never needed to post. I  always found my answers here though in the archives.

I applaud the "bang the starter" suggestion but a stcking bendix wouldn't blow the fuse.  I think you are on the right track with the igntion system.  Could you see if the wiring to the starter was all still attached to the starter?  Did the truck suddenly die or did you park it and then find the problem?

Perhaps this diagram will help. Only some circuits will blow the 40A fuse, since others from that fuse are smaller fuses which would of course, blow first if such a short was after them..

Look for a melted harness, fallen-apart relay or ign switch contacts... If you don't see anything physical, you'll just need to disconnect circuits to isolate it.

Does the fuse blow immediately when you replace it, or only after you try to start the truck?

The image expands; how, depends on your browser.

had the same problem, for me it was the solinod on the starter was blown and the ignition switch circuit was shorted out. 9 times out ten that what it is in my opinion.
