Hey guys,

I am new to the board and have read a lot of posts on more aggressive offroad tires, but I am looking for a really nice set of wide street performance tires. ?

I really want to fill up the wheel well a little bit and maybe improve the handling at the same time. ?I am thinking of some 20s or 22s or something. ?I don't think I need to go to 24s like you see on the Tahoes, but something wider and low profile. ?Something like the one in the attached photo would be great.

Also, where can I buy that grill in the attached photo?

Any ideas? ?Links? ?Photos? ?Suggestions? ?

Someone posted a picture of an Avalanche with 20's or 22's and then put another picture of a stock AV beside it. ?The wheel well space above the tire was the same in both. ?I think the only way you will eat up that space is get a taller tire, which will not be sporty like you want, or lower the AV a bit. ?I personally want to lower the front 2" and the rear 3" and then do what your wanting to do. ?Go with a 20" rim and a wide sport tire. ?As for tires and rims, do a search for pics of AV's. ?You might have to try several different searches but others have put info on the forum about where to buy rims. ?Try this for a lowering kit:Lowering Kit 3/5
And try this for some rims: Rims ?
There are other rim sites mentioned here in the forum, just do a search for them.

PS Welcome to the club! How rude of me not to mention that in the begining of the post.

Silver_TT,
I put 20" wheels on mine with performance tires on it. Tkae a look at my picture trail.
1. The shot in front of the dealership has 305/50R20 Toyo's on it. 1.5 inches taller than stock. It fills up the "hole" nicely. Unfortunately, they rub on the cladding.
2. The driveway shots have 295/45R20 Toyos. Same height as stock, much wider though. They don't rub at all, and they give the illusion of filling it.
Hope it helps. :B:

:) Silver__TT,

I think Goo has the 285/50R20 Goodyears on his AV with Epic Rhine wheels(beeeutiful). ;D

If you are going to lower the truck do not go any taller than 285/50(31.2"). If you plan on keeping it stock height, it is possible to fit a 33"tall tire under a 1500 AV.

Nitto makes a 325/50R20 (32.7"), Kumho has a 305/50R20 (32"), Falken, Pirelli, Goodyear, Yokohama and Toyo also have tires in these sizes as well. Any tire at least 31.50" tall will fill the wheel well, look better and handle better.

As far as a wheel, 20x8.5 should be the minimum. A 20x10 with a medium positive offset(+15 to +30) will look and fit great.

Good Luck

Sorry Silver_TT ... I missed your post earlier.

Here's a recent photo in my Daytime topic. ?Click on "goo929 wrote" to read the entire topic. ?

Tiregod1 is right about the size of the Goodyear Eagles GTII's.

Silver_TT, take a look at the link below if you like. I have a drop kit and 20 inch rims. Set of Yoko's on them. Little lower than stock, but much wider.

Thanks everyone for the links and advice! ;)

I appreciate it. I think I might go with a similar setup to Goo. Damn your truck looks great.

I PMed you for a bit more info.

Thanks again,

Dan

I just put 20's on mine. Check out my webpage below. I'm going to lower the rear only. The 305/50/20 Nitto's do run on the fender well. I guess because I have a big nice offset to have a deep dish.

Welcome to the club.

You can't go wrong putting 20's on your truck. Most people seem to stare at mine.

If it hasn't been mentioned, you can buy a billet grill from the group buy on this website. It's the same one I have on my truck.

Have fun modding,

Thanks chazj....

Two more questions. What is the link to the billet group buy?

Also, do you rub with the 20s? How do you modify the fender well so you don't rub if you do?

Thanks,

Dan
