Hi there all,
Well just picked up some Lexani V.P. 3-Piece 22' and now it's time for tires. The question or questions I have is just what tire will fit and not rub, what size is a true "Plus 5" and what is just a bit taller of a tire.

Here are the spec. 22X10 with a 15mm offset.

Now Lexani says a 305/45/22 will work with no rubbing
DiscountTire says 285/35/22 or 325/40/22 will work and
Tire rack says 305/40/22 will work.
I'm getting a bit confused with all the tires sizes, but I was want a tire that will NOT at all, the wife will be driving it and I need to make sure there will be nothing wrong with her driving the AV. :E:
Please help me and also I have CLADING!!!!

oh ya here is a link to the rims to check out http://www.lexaniwheel.com/Pages/MasterFrame.html

Holy poop, I think you got some bad advise there. 305/40/22 is the closest to stock overall diameter of 31.6 as I recall. I think you would have problems with the 325/40/22. Keep in mind that the 40 is a percent of the first number, in this case 325.. which is 325mm or 32.5 centemeters which is equal to 12.8 inches.. so your sidewall would be 5.11 inches
The 285/35/22 would be too small in my opinion. Here the tire is 11.22 wide and the sidewall would be 3.9 inches... so your overall diameter should be out by about 2 inches.

holy crap! 285/35/22 's yeah they will fit but can you say 'weres the side wall' dude i would not go that low of a profile except for show, especially if you are lookin' out for the wife.
again, 325/40/22 damn way to wide unless you got a blower under the hood.
i am runn' 285/50/20's and have no rubbing. if you run with 305/40/22 they are only .4 inches taller and a wee bit wider. here is a link: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

i understand i did not answer the question but you have to look at other factors. a little rubbing is ok but 285/35/22 is going to be a hard riddin truck -easy on the pot holes-. 325/40/22 kiss you gas good buy.
personally i would not let a salesman pick my tires - their just going to get rid of what they need to sell. knowing this forum they will come through for you, with better info than i can -im only runnin 20's.
have fun with them.

Sparky,
thanks for the help, I was looking at tirerack.com and discouttire.com and pluged my year, make, and model.
Those were the size they gave me. and after doing a search and reading everyone sig. I'm seeing that the 305/40/22 are the size that everybody is going with, but I'm seeing that the 305/45/22 are a cheaper price, but now I was wondering just what the chances of me rubbing is going to be??????

The difference is going to be about 2/3 of an inch in the side wall, which means an overall diameter increase of about 1.33 inches. That is enough to make a big difference.
In the same brand of tire 45's should be more expense than 40's.... I'm guessing that you are looking at two different brands of tire, and the more expensive ones..... might be your best bargin

what about 305/45/22???
I'm looking on discounttire.com and there is a price diff, andI'm just leaning towards the 45 because there is going tobe more sidewall and more sidewall= better ride,
But will they rub?

I sure hope so, it seems that everytime I get rims they NEVER look the way I THOUGHT they would. Its taking me about 1 year to finally step-up and find something the wife would like too

here is the black version on a Av

What are the two tires?

My 305/45/22s never rub. I have heard of people who have had rubbing issues with these. The main thing is to make sure the wheel has the right backspacing. Plus, my torsions bars have had a little crank put on them.

I went down and checked with a guy here who is running 22"s on a cladded SOM and he is running 305/40/22" without cranked torsion bars or a lift and he is not getting any rubbing on a lock to lock turn.
He is running Toyo Proxes S/T Tires.

Chow.... Those wheels are sweeeeet!

I have been dreaming about the VP's.

I want to get the crome VP's with the off road outer beauty ring! >:D

Like this.....

Go with the 305/40/22 I just lowered mine yesterday and have no rubbing issues. Full wheel lock and everything.

I am running 305/45/22 and they will rub. When insatlled they will rub on the driver's side wheel well. The reason is that the tank for the windshield wiper fluid runs down the driver's side. You can see that the plastic on the driver's side is molded differently. I had the plastic cut down to the very bottom of the tank (which was about an inch) and used a heat gun to bend the plastic and windshield wiper fluid tank in to give more clearance. The wheel still rubs on the driver's side when turning. To clarify, you can hear the tire rubbing but it does not affect the turning radius at all. I have had my tire checked a few times and there is no visible marks on the tire. I will buy 45 series again when the time comes. The comfort I get from riding on 45 versus 40 series is important to me.

I also have the 305/45 but in a 23" size

I have not had any rubbing with this setup

Is the inside plastic in the fenderwell different between cladded and WBH? My 24" rubbed like crazy but that was cladded and now the 22" don't rub lowered WBH.

Since I have the 3-piece, all I would need is to but the Bead-Locker and there you go.

BUT I HAVE A PROBLEM, you see the AV is my wife's and I wanted to get the biggest tire without rubbing, and was hoping for 305/45/22 instead of the 305/40/22 due to the ride quality, but not my wife doesn't even want them anymore beacause she is worried aout 2 things
1. RIDE QUALITY
2. FEAR of getting car-jacked or someone stealing her truck
oh ya I forgot, curb-checking them and having to deal with me :8: (I can be the devil)
Now what should I do she is refusing to have me get the tires now  WOMEN!!!!!! Can't live with them, can't kill them :-X

Then go with a real nice set of 20's. Still look awesome, are very different from stock, and both the wheels and rubber are less money (y)
