Well anything is possible, but what is a bit easier is to change the the front door modules both driver and passenger with ones for folding mirrors DL3. Used ones will work.

Make sure the mirrors you get are for a 2003 to 2006 GM truck

Do you need those modules even if you only want the turning indicators to work?

Yes, there is no wiring in the door for the signal the module  controls the mirrors.

I guess you could run a wire to a signal light, but I'm not getting into that can of worms

I was reading the DL3 mirror mod thread and saw the pictures on the modules. I don't believe my module has the memory in it.  Will that make a difference? Starting to think the manual mirrors will work just fine.  Especially at half the price lol

I have a similar issue.  I have a 2004 Av 2500.  I replaced the OEM mirrors (with all options: turn signals in glass, power mirror adjustments, defrost, power folding, memory, puddle lights, and auto-darkening) with Tow Mirrors from 1A Auto, link below.

The Tow Mirrors have turn signals on the front / side of the housing instead of in the glass, manual folding, defrost, reverse lights, and clearance lights.  I know I'm losing the power folding, puddle light, and auto-darkening functions.  The turn signals, power mirror adjustment, defrost, and memory should transfer over directly, but I'm struggling with the clearance and reverse lights.

The tow mirrors come plug and play for this year/make/model, except for the two hot wires for the Clearance and Reverse Lights.  They provided wires and plugs, but I'm not sure where to tie them in. The clearance light should come on with the headlights. I know there are the two fuse boxes by my left foot, and I know there is a reverse light wire behind the stereo (where I tied in the rear view camera). But I'm trying to figure out the best place to tie in.

I'd love to salvage the puddle lights somehow, maybe have the reverse lights in the mirror come on with either the reverse light or the puddle light?  I don't know if that's possible without causing a ton of other issues . . .

UPDATE:  I got everything working. I ended up playing around for a few hours with a multimeter and decided the easiest thing to do was tie into the reverse light wire behind the radio, then for the clearance lights, I used Post 6 on the link below to pull the headlight panel off and tie into the brown/white wire there.  I ended up taking the vast majority of the dash apart so that I could run the wires from the switches in the door to the stereo through all the correct rubber grommets and pathways, but it probably could have been done easier with a few zipties.

Bonus: the reverse lights come on with the puddle lights when you unlock the doors, which means the bright white reverse lights built into the mirrors also function as puddle lights!

The only hiccup so far is the clearance lights are staying on regardless of whether the headlights are on or not.  Granted, I finished the project after dark, so it's possible that it has more to do with the light sensor than just the headlight switch - guess I'll find out in the morning!

Thank for this guys. I ordered the wrong mirrors for my 05 in Dec. Installing them now in June 2022 🙈
