Hello, I am sire this line has been beat to death- I am at odd's woth cutting into wire harnesses and what not-
Those of you all running full time DRL please let me know any thoughts and regrets- if any.
I have seen some posts of people losing their DRL after doing this mod-
The Xrover and Auto worker post are great but can NOT find the instructions (or DESTRUCTIONS as I call them) to initiate this Mod- I did my SilverStars today- 9006, love em, going to buy the highs and also do the all 4 mod for High, Low. I do not think however that I should attempt to run the Fog's as well- 899's as would not this be taxing my electrical system.

Please let me know about the Full Time DRL's cuz with positive words- I am in the garage doing it- with out-
then NO way and I playing brain surgeon..

Thanks in advance all.....

There's a very easy way to do it. No cutting, splicing or destruction at all.....

1) Open Hood
2) Disconnect NEG battery terminal
3) Remove Firewall to Fender support on driver's side
4) Remove Fuse Cabinet shroud
5) Tilt upper Fuse Block up and towards the engine
6) Remove the GREEN fuse terminal
7) Find the double blue wire going to the lower right corner of the Green terminal block
8 ) Remove the blue assurance clip holding wires for bottom half of GREEN connector (the one now in your hand)
9) Move the double blue wire UP one position.
10) Reassemble.

Takes about 10 minutes.

If you're ever in Detroit, let me know and I'll do it for you...

Thank you for the great, simple, easy, no brianer, kinda approach-
KISS- Keep it simple stupis (Silly) if you like.
I appreciate all the words out here.
Allthough, did I not see a post from you on issues with DRL's
Maybe it was someone else? I remember reading (WAY BACK) that they did the mod and then a week later- KaPutski, No more DRL. Then I never heard the outcome- just made me nervous.

To show how exact I want to be, I went out and bought a Multi Meter as I want to have all tools needed to do any mod that comes my way... I also got different colored wires, zip ties and all other mod electrical stuff to be sure I have all stuff on hand needed...
I hate being caught mid mod and need to steal wifes car to do something?

I printed out the picture from xrovers web page as a reference(still might put a switch on these). Followed jasgots instruction and took about 5 min total.
The amber DRLs, combined with the ultra bright turn signals(thanks to got_change) light up the night like amber low beams.

:0: I wonder if anyone makes an amber neon kit?

Good luck :B: :B:

Both Streetglow and Liteglow have orange underbody kits. Be sure to get the quality Gold Series and Pro-Series. Come over to Neon Lighting Accessories and look around ;)

Oh great! I just saw something new at the Streetglow site

If you move the green wires up one position you will be tied into the head lamp curcuit. By doing this the DRLs will be supplied with power through the head lamp relay. The extra amperage demanded by the DRLs on the head lamp curcuit may over load the head lamp relay and or the head lamp swith. The DRLs may need to be kept on a separate relay.

yeah, i can back up the one wire mod, if the key is in... you got ambers! works great! and they stay on no matter what.

I thought the Factory DRL's were on all the time. What stock lights are on all the time in the daytime?

I have to agree with Avalanche girl on the moving up of the DRL wire. I found that if you want the DRL's on all the time when the ignition is on, move the 2 blue wires down one position to the empty slot. That slot is 12 volts as long as the key is on.

I think Jasgot was referring to the same position but depending on how you are viewing your fuse block up or down could be the same spot.

I love the amber glow visible below the headlights at night ?
Also if you don't like this mod (crazy ?), it can easily reversed.

Hello all-
Okay, NOW I am really freaked at this string of post-
Thaks for the info to date>
IF I do the Jasgot DRL move the wire up am I tied into the headlight relay? IF so- will this over time burn it out?
As I quoted above from Avalanche Girl- I am just trying to confirm no damage is going to happen to my new love of life-
Please advise all-
Thanks.

I am going to publish one of those ______ for dummies books-
Modding and your Chevy Avalanche for Dummies:
Avalanche Press Inc- copy right- 2002,
$19.99
How to interviews with: Goo929, and many others
Great email and web support for middle of the night mishaps while modding late into the night
What to do when *#&$^ goes wrong
and Much Much More. . .

If this mod is performed, how does it effect the auto off lamps circuit [ when you push the dome lite button, 4 times]
without the mod the DRL are off completely and won't come on
I like the Idea of Parks/fogs/DRL's --no heads

Finally got the ambers. Did the full-time on mod. The drls stay on when you override the auto headlamps. Looks great. (y) A big thanks to everyone. Now maybe I can convince my wife to let me get an exhaust. Yeah right!!

Mine are on fulltime now.....

No regrets no problems.......
