On a side note, the dealership I am going to use now (Diamond Chevrolet of Worcester) has had a very bad reputation on service, but a good sales reputation
Mate, I would be emailing the *other* dealer a pic of your new av when you get it and letting them know that they missed a sale... wait until near the end of the month, then it will really bug them. (y)

AVingInNH,

Congrats on your new Av. It's time to put the dealer experience in the past and start enjoying your Av. May you have many joyful and safe miles with her! (y)

"I didn't make a dime on the sale". If I had a dime for every time I heard that from a car salesman, I wouldn't have needed to take a loan out for my Av! ;)

WARNING: THE AVALANCHE GENERAL HAS DETERMINED THAT NEW CAR FEVER CAN BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR WALLET!

If only we had the strength to walk away from a BAD DEAL :8: after seeing the AVALANCHE  of our dreams ;D

The best way to rid yourself of the bad taste this deal left in your mouth, is to start modding ;D And you have come to the right place for ideas and help in that area ;D

webbie44  ?

congrats on the new truck!!! forget the past and enjoy the av!!

Just got this problem fixed at no charge. The service manager said it was his call to fix it and he wanted to do the right thing. During our brief conversation, he did not look me in the eye the whole time.

Man if I was a dealer I would be trying to keep all you folks happy as... It makes sense from a repeat business point of view. (y)

Well, its official the dealership I bought my truck from does not give a rats behind about its customers :8: My friend went down there the other day to look at some cars (no intent to buy) and one gentleman came up to him. He started to ask my friend if he knew me, he said that yes he did. Suddenly my friend told me that the employee (named Nick)said I was an A$$hole causing problems at their dealership . So my friend said "well, he had problems you guys didnt take care of. " So the sales men said that its not there fault I have problems! Hello!!!! McFly, your the dealership, its your JOB to take care of me. Then the employee started to say that I talk sh!t to them by sending them email . I've NEVER sent them one email. The only stuff I talk about them is on here, and I dont bash them, I just tell the truth about my experiance there, which has always been below par. I cannot see a dealership (Schallers) bashing their customers when they didnt help me out in the first place. I really hope GM gets to read this, and maybe the dealership, then maybe this person can get fired . I'm still in shock over this. Once this dealership gets your money, Your treated like the trash on a
tuesday :6: Like i said before, Im not trying to bash or hurt any company, Im just trying to show to others what I've been going thru on my ordeal. Thanks for listening, I really had to vent (y)
Frank
P.s. If i did email this dealership, can you please provide proof that it was I that emailed you, guess what you cant :0: Because I never did!!!

Have you filed an official case # with GM Customer Service. With your many problems, it could turn out good for you to do this. That is the only true way to document things.

I have been going back and forth with this dealership about damage to my spare tire because it was semi loose under my AV. ?This also caused the undercoating to removed and bare metal showing that is rusting.

UPDATE
I spent some time this week at the dealership and spoke with one of the managers. I showed him what I saw as the issue and he showed me how the underside of the AV is just painted and that the spare will always rub a little and take the light coat of paint off.

The dealership offered to take my AV in and undercoat the area for me.

Being humble at my misunderstanding I said I would take care of the issue myself.

We both agreed that this issue could have been resolved with better communication by the dealership.

You really hate them don't you ;D? I've noticed. But it appears as though it's for a very valid reason you hate them. All I know is that they think very highly of themselves up there .

I wish you luck with those a-holes up at Century (y). That has gone to far. One thing I would do if I were you (my dad has experience with this at Luby Chevrolet a few years ago) is go into the showroom and raise a HUGE ruckus and maybe that would discourage people from buying there :0:.

I never really had problems with Century. I bought my 98 Blazer ZR2 from them. But, I can tell you this every time I went in there they where nver very personal and I didn't like that. So, that is why I bought my Avalanche from John Elway.

how many dealerships does Elway own now? Last time I heard it was like 5?

Blueruck, sorry to hear about your experience. It is sad that their are dealers out there like that.

We have all been fooled thinking Elway owns those dealerships. But in fact, he does NOT own them. There are now probably at least 15 dealerships in the Denver area with his name on them but it is actually "AutoNation" that owns them. They just stick Elway's name on as an incentive to buy from them.

I personally do not like Auto Nation. When we were looking at Avs, there was an Av with a "low no haggle price" of $42,000 when it should have been $38,000. My dad got into a rather large argument with the manager over that!

Hi Flyn - Elway sold all of his dealerships to AutoNation a few years ago and has leased back his name to Autonation for all of their Denver locations.

I am supposed to meet with the GM at this dealership on Wed at noon - he said he wants to make this right

Many, many moons ago, my oldest sister bought a used V-6 Pinto wagon :D: The dealership didn't tell her that it had overheated (and warped the aluminum heads). She had a series of problems, none were satisfactorily resolved. When the new head gaskets (which they had installed to hide the warping) blew, my mom got my grandmother's Chrysler New Yorker (70-something land yacht), picked up a towbar at U-haul and pulled the Pinto to the dealership. She pulled-up right out in front of the new car showroom  Boy, that they're attention! She wound up swapping the really trashed Pinto for a new Pinto Wagon stripper, no extra charge.

You didn't tick my mom off and get by with it. My younger sister is like that, too - but she likes to keep a sledge hammer handle in her car! >:D

It is really funny hearing about other people and there problems with dealerships. Some people like them and some don't. I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I don't know why I never really have major problems with places. I guess it is all about the people you meat at the dealer ship. I paid 35,000 for my Avalanche and that is not including taxes. My Avalanche is fully loaded to but that is back in 2002.

Sorry, but unless the mechanism that holds the spare is defective how is the spare not being completely tight the Dealerships (or GMs) problem? or fault? It's not like you just bought the Av. Now it's not a real big deal and they certainly should have taken care of it just for good customer relations, but I don't see any other reason to.

TX - I found this problem last summer. I never had the spare down and one day decided to take it down and make sure I knew how to get it down, so when I had a flat someday I wouldn't have to learn on the spot.

When I took it down, the spares side wall was damaged from rubbing against the underside of my AV and the under coating was rubbed down to bare metal.

My AV had roughly 20K miles at this time.

This is not my problem - the spare was never fully tight and it did damage to the spare and my AV. So either GM or the dealership is going to give me a new spare and fix the under coating on my AV.

Well, my whole ordeal has come to an end ;D. I finally got my issues taken care of by a dealership a friend of mine works at ;). So with that being done, I traded my truck in  ;D  I no longer own an AV  I was just getting tired of dealing with all the hassels and dealerships, so with all the problems fixed, I traded in for a 2001 cadillac seville sts (6/100k warranty). This car is out of this world, every creature comfort you can think of. I really appreciated all the advice you guys have given me thru these tough times, even though some were VERY critical, it helped me learn ways to handle things. And the different ways to approach ideas and people are something i will take with me everywhere i go. Thanks again to all, especially Chief for making this great site possible.
Frank

P.S. I am selling my tires if anyone is interested. There are the goodyear MT/R 265/75/16 with only 10k miles on it, rotated at 5k, so there is barley anywhere on it. I am asking $450 pick up at my house(i dont have a truck to carry them around in anymore :( ) So if anyone is interested, just drop me a line on here.
