Has anyone installed nerf bars on an 03 AV without the cadding? If so what brand and where did u get them. We are researching the westin stainless cps bars. Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks James :)

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I would like to know as well, you would think the manufacturers would be coming out with stuff for our rides by now, they aren't THAT new.

I had the dealer put some on my AV as part of the deal. They put on some all Stainless bars with step pads. They are Bullet Brand. Never heard of them but they look like the Westin Platimun Chrome Plated Stainless. I think they are great!! I dont like sliding in and out so they are nice to step on. I would highly reccomend installing them yourself. My brackets had some in/out adjustment and 2 different height adjustments. This is my Baby and I want the stuff lined up so just like always, If you want something done right, then do it yourself. They were easy to install with no whole drilling. Sorry no avaliable pictures. Make sure you buy some with a lifetime finish warranty.

I was told by another member...not sure who but Westin does not make the oval nerf bars for the WBH yet.

I am patiently waiting for them in Black for my ride, but am interested in hearing what other WBH'ers have done.

I am hoping that they will have them before the end of the year.

Just got the stainless ICI bars from dealsofsteel.com. Took about a week and a half to get them but the price was VERY good. They are still in the box but I'm installing them this weekend. I'll report back.

Thanks allfor the input. I am going to call westin and see whats the holdup on our nerf bars.

Thanks James

OK got the info from Westin. Aparently the same bars they make for the av with cladding will also fit the wo model. What im wondering is how far out they will stick out. Anyone know if the model 26-2170 has adjustable brackets?

Thanks James :)

jfondel,
Very interesting! Are you talking about the Westin Ovals though? Here is an excerpt from an e-mail they sent me.

Any word yet as to whether the Suburban Ovals will fit on my 2003 Avalanche WBH?
Thanks in advance,

Larry

Larry,
Unfortunately this will not be determined until the beginning of the 4TH quarter. Please try back in mid October.

The information I received from Weston was for the platinum series nerf bars in stainless. Does anyone know if these bars are adjustable?

Thanks James

I did install the factory GM bars in about 30 min.
Get them from the dealer.
They bolt on in 4 places along the bottom of the cab
(1 screw, 1 bolt X 4 places) each side with perfect
alignment.
Very easy to do,I might add......

My '03 1500 WBH Av came with the GM Nerf Bars already installed from the dealer.
They look great and work quite nicely.

Hey everyone! I just purchased black nerf bars for my '03 WBH and will be installing them later today. I will let everyone know how I do, and might be able to get the digital camera.

I got it from an auction on ebay from a company in VA. Don't remember the name off hand, but will try to get it.

I thought it was funny, when I it from UPS today, the label says for a silverado, no mention of the AV, but the instructions inside has the '03 1500 AV listed.

I lined them up tonight, and everything will line up great and the space that has everyone worried about because of being WBH, should be next to none.

Will keep you updated!

Allen

I got the nerf bars on with no problem at all, everything lined up great. Just needed to find someone with a torque wrench to tighten to manufacturer specs :)

I will get some pics for you to see. There is just about no space in between for you to slip and get your foot stuck in between so everything is fine.

UPDATE: Installed the ICI bars and they seem a little short for the holes in the bottom of the truck. It all works but seems a little tight. They look great, though. It's "creaks" in a parking lot - over speed bumps and tight corners. Quiet on the road. (Disclaimer: I once sold a twin turbo RX-7 because of a "squeek" from the driver's side hood hinge - I'm pretty anal when it comes to rattles, creaks, and squeeks) The plastic bushings they sent split apart with the 35lbs of torque specified in the directions so I went to the hardware store and bought my own. Those seem fine. I'll probably replace the lock washers as they are flat after replacing the bushings. In all I'm happy with the look but I'm not so sure these bars were made to specifically fit this vehicle. But for $270 shipped to my door I guess I can't complain.

Matt

Here is a pic of the westin bars. I like them better then the factory bars because you have more room between the bar and the truck

Since the center section of the WBH is basically a suburban 1500, why would the application for that not work?

I'm going to the Cadillac dealer this week to check out the possibility of ordering the stock Escalade EXT bars for my '03 WBH Pewter Avalanche. I like their fit and the fact that they are both functional and sleek. I'm hoping there is a matching color from 2002, but if not, then I will consider getting them painted.

ICE, you like the Westin bars for the reason I don't - they're far away from the body. Not only do I want them as a step to get in, but I also want to step on them as I get out so I don't break down the sides of the bottom of my very nice driver's seat. Does anyone have a picture of the GM chrome or gray bars on a WBH ride?

I'll post my results when I get them. In the meantime, below is a picture of the Escalade EXT with the stock running boards:

Have any of you guys looked at the Suburban Z71 bars and moulding that goes behind the step bars. I have been looking for a few months for a used setup from the Burb. Have not had any luck. Dealer wants about 1200$ for the setup new. Any of you guys know of any?

$590 for each side for PARTS ONLY on the Cadillac Escalade EXT running boards. They come in four large parts each plug all mounting hardware. That means it is $1180 + Tax + Labor.

I'm going with generics.

one of the posts above mentioned adding on the side steps of an Escalade EXT. would they fit "perfect" on an 03 avy? or would they require major modification?

i just bought an 04' without body cladding, i took the bars off when it had under 100 miles on it. the invoice states that they are a $585 option. i will sell them for $190....you pay for shipping. they are in mint condition. i live in southern california for anyone interested in picking them up. you can email me at: nfplunkettjr@yahoo.com

I ordered bars from Luverne and they came to the house with a label that says Suburban/Yukon XL. They fit perfectly on my '03 WBH.
