After all the debating and choices I have decided to put on the Flowmaster 50 SUV series today. I wanted a little sound without all the excessive noise of some systems.

Listened to numerous sound clips and to my old ears this sounded like the one for me.

I will let you all know later today how I like it

Well this is turning out not to be good at all. The shop put the wrong muffler on. They used one with 2.5 inch openings not 3 inch. They hacked up my original so bad it looks like the worst backyard patch job in history, there are so many cuts and reducers in line that in order to have anything even halfway respectable I will now have to do a complete cat back system.
The AV just didn't seem right after I left the shop, with throttle response and when approaching stop signs I could feel the very pronounced downshift of the transmission.
Spoke to Flowmaster and they confirmed the wrong part#, and the real possibility of the undersized flow causing excessive backpressure and oh well I cant wait to see what excuse they come up with at the shop.

Sorry to hear that wanderingb. Maybe tell em all is forgiven once the new catback is on.

Sure have my fingers crossed on this one I hope they make it right I sure dont want the stop payment on check and small claims court thing

You don't need a cat-back.  They need to build you some custom pipes to replace the hatcheted job.  They need to pay the difference, since it was there mistake.

And you have to ask yourself why they put on a muffler that was too small without confirming with you that it was too small and asking if you were 100% sure you wanted one that was too small for the truck. (Needing the reducers made it obvious that it was the wrong muff).  They don't sound like the sharpest knives in the drawer, how much brain power is required to weld stuff correctly?  (Skillz required yes, rocket science NO).

Oh they will do it right today or I will stop payment on the check.

As for custom pipes well they took 1 piece of 2.5in and bent it almost 90degrees and the ben was so tight I would bet it was down to 1.5 so I dont know about the custom pipes. The more I think about it me being me I am just going to do a full cat back

You might be able to win a whole catback in small claims if you have to fight them.  But I am sure there hatchet job would be free on Judge Judy (small claims) and get them to "make it right" for your orginal price should be a no brainer for the judge too.  Only problem is it will take months to move through the system.

Well so much for the Flowmaster. After all the problems I had with this job here today the whse didnt have any.

Ended up going with a Magnaflow single side out cat back. They made it all good from the mess yesterday so I have no complaints.

And if the truth be told the Magnaflow sounds better to me, smooth and mellow.

There was definite problems with that Flowmaster, vibration in accellerator and brake pedals along with the extremely hard downshifts when comming to a stop, as well as my fuel mileage was dropping like a rock. I didnt think knocking the exhaust down like they did would make so much go wrong but it sure did.

Final note fuel mileage is better that it ever has been hwy/city and it is still going up..

I have always preferred single out exhaust for my trucks although my last Gibson had a dual out behind the passenger side rear. Just my thing I guess

I am glad that it all worked out for you, but what excuse did they give you for the horror job that they did the first time?? :B:

I really didnt push that issue I was just happy they replaced it and now it is all good
