BOSE factory sound system

Hey everyone. As simple as it sounds. I would like to put in a new head unit while utilizing the bose amp and speakers. From what research I've done people haven't had much luck using the amp and have had to bypass it. If it's as simple as different harnesses please direct me to the ones. Just need some avalanche club wisdom. Thnx

I think it comes down to the Ohmns

The main problem or challenge with the bose amp is, it's what they call a dumb amp.
It has no controls what so ever, it takes a low-level input from the head unit and amplifies it.
Most aftermarket head units have a built-in amplifier so you will send an amplified signal into another amplifier and it will not sound good.
Then there's the chimes a stock head unit sends it through the front left speaker and it can control it aftermarket not so much.

The difference between a bose head unit and stock speaker headunit is the stock headunit has full range output.

Check at www.crutchfield.com for all the adapters you will need. They have a good customer service and can answer your questions,

Thank you very much!

You are better off bypassing the BOSE amplifier when configuring a system like that. Using either a new amplifier or just using the amplified outputs of your head unit.

I always encourage anyone looking to change their sound system to contact customer service at Crutchfield to let them help find you all the stuff you need to change from stock including adapters etc. needed to maintain all functions. They can design a system to meet your needs and budget.

Something i have found is that behind the radio and climate controls there is a set of grey plugs attached to the back of the main black plastic dash structure. Pull them out and you will see the male plug is the exact same as the stock bose radio blue plug but missing a few wires. The grey plug is the non bose system harness that goes directly to the speakers. The Blue plug that goes into the bose radio is a jumper harness that goes to the amp. The grey female plug is the output from the amp. Hope this helps.

Hello and Merry Christmas! My name is Gent, long time follower, first time poster.
Thank you! I am surprised and happy to see the recent posts for this year Avalanche.
So I have been wanting to upgrade my audio, found Crutchfield online and got a KenwoodDDX376BT
,an open box deal.
I am old school and just probably wrongly assumed this new head unit would run just fine with the stock
Bose system, I also ordered all recommended harnesses with the H/U.
I had hoped to add an amp and sub later but upgraded for the aux input jack and B/U cam now.
Sounds from what I'm reading here like I should get with Crutchfield about advise on the next
steps now before I waste time installing my new H/U into the stock Bose pre-amp, baby sub, etc.
I have done a lot of mods on my 03, Escalade 3rd brake light, my design factory remote locking tailgate,
fuel pump shut-off W/ factory remote, custom made running boards etc.
I would like to do this install myself and do want more bass, not earth quake, just more than stock.
I didn't see anything at the Crutchfield site about upgrade to that baby sub under the console,
any suggestion's on which way to go in that location?

Jl makes a stealth box that fits our trucks that has a down firing 10. Would need a separate amp for it. You could get the pin out for the factory amp and replace it with one of your choice like a decent 5 channel. Depends on how in depth your willing to go.
