Lost in the Jersey woods
Rather than triple posting, I will post this thread here. The United States Air Force, in its infinite wisdom, has determined that my skills are of more use at Mcguire Air Force Base, New Jersey than Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. So I will be going on a cruise. Attending this cruise will be myself, my wife, and our three kids, 1F and 2M (F=feline, M=mutt). Oh yeah, and one fish.

We will be very easy to spot on this cruise. I will be pulling a rental trailer with a Kia Sephia loaded on it. The only things definite at this point are that I will be leaving here on or about 1 Sept, we have to be in Nashville on 5 Sept, and I have to check in at McGuire AFB by 10 Sept.

We will be looking at camping most of the way. I need info on camping areas along the way that are four-legged-kid-friendly. We will probably stay in a hotel in Nashville since it would be rude if the performers at The Grand Ole Opry could actually smell us.

Also, does anyone know of any kennels around Nashville that would like to babysit our kids while we watch the show. Preferably one close to the Reiman Auditorium or the Opry Hotel.

Dave, sorry to see you leaving the Great State of Texas - but that part of New Jersey is sort of nice. I did my infantry basic training at Fort Dix, adjacent to the air base.

Watch out for the troopers there, they are vicious - but the rest of the folks are nice.

HI DAVE,

Let me be the first to welcome you in advance to the "GARDEN STATE". I am in Toms River, NJ (not too far away) when you get settled drop me a PM, I will be more than happy to show you around.

Welcome to Southern New Jersey Dave :) You be smack dab in the middle of the Pine Barrens, not a bad area if your into the outdoors. Need any help just ask (y)

Never drive alone on a country road in Jersey late at night, when there is a full moon. The Jersey Devil knows when someone is alone and he will jump out of the bushes and start biting and clawing until you give him a piece of candy. >:D

Thanks George, I'll take you up on that.

Who else will I be passing along the way ???

Depending on your Route Probably Me --Exit 4 of NJ Turn Pike -Or Exit 34 a off 295 North--

You are approx 3-4 exits above Me -If you plan on Tossing out your Boxes let me know because i will need some when I move from Condo To a Home in the Near Future--

I'm at exit 10 off the NJ turnpike.... which sounds deceptively close. Not that far but it's more than 6 miles after exit 4. :)

No, thats just the iguanas running amok because you forgot to feed them ;D

That would be our Cuban Rock Iguana getting cranky if he doesn't get his afternoon treat of one of his favorite fruits.

Ok, here's the route so far.

I-40 to Jackson and Nashville then take I-65 north to Indy and I-70 EAST to the Pennsylvania
turnpike.

The first stop will be in Jackson, TN. The second stop will be in Nashville. The third stop will be at Z66 Butch's house. Maybe a fourth stop somewhere between there and McGuire.

Exact times and dates yet to be determined.

This route will take you right by Wright Pat Air Plane Patch. Got a new famcamp there only a couple miles off the highway ($15/night). I know cause I had to stay there for 3 weeks waiting for a house on my recent PCS. Let me know if you want to stop for a visit.

We can do lunch, dinner, beer, whatever!
