I did it. After several weeks of searching and researching (mostly here), I bought one last night. The vitals are Z-71, Indigo Blue, Graphite Leather (with butt warmers, OnStar, and a 4.10 rear end. The wife's not too happy this morning - she wanted a Cherokee (which she will get when we repalce her vehicle.) Bottom line - $28.6K.

Sunday night I sent eMails to 23 area dealers with specifics on what I wanted. Monday morning I had 18 phone calls, of which 14 told me that I either didn't need or really didn't want that 4.10. (I suspect that some wouldn't know where the gear was on the truck if asked)

I pick her up on Saturday!! Thanks to everyone for all the valuable info I found here. It made the decision a lot easier being properly armed! ;D

Welcome, and congrats on your new AV....You won't regret your purchase.... :D

Welcome aboard... glad to hear you got a great deal on what seems to be a great looking AV... :D

Congratulations. You are just going to love your new Avalanche. I have the 4.10 rear end too, and it's super. May you and your Av have a long and wonderful romance.

Hey fellow Newbie,

Take this piece of advise. DO NOT BUY A CHEROKEE. I just came off a 3 year lease. I had a 99 Cherokee ltd. I had to replace the transfer case twice and the tranny once. The company was not going to honor the warentee because I did not have the vehicle serviced by them. I found in the Warentee guide that they can not void the warentee just because I did not follow their recommened servicing schedule. I got them on tape saying that was the only reason why they were voiding it. At court you should of seen the look on the Chrysler's lawyers face when the judge read the Warentee stipulations from the guide followed by the playing of my tape. Lets just say I WON!!!

The moral of the story is that I will never buy another Chrysler automobile for as long as I live!!!

Powersurg,

Thanks for that story! Having been yanked around several times myself, I tend to rather enjoy stories like that. Especially the happy ending.

D*mn!! The dealer called and said he sent someone to the other dealership to pick up my truck. He said it appears that the vehicle had been partially repainted and did not look 'right', and that there may have been damage to it at some point. I added a stipulation to the contract that since I had not seen the actual vehicle to be delivered, I was retaining the right of refusal for anything I determined to be unacceptable.

Another truck with the same specs in currently 'in transit' to this area and he's trying to track it down to see if it's already committed to another buyer. Pending that, he also asked how I felt about another color, one with a sunroof, 3.73s, etc. I'm now waiting on a call back and am firm on what I want. I need to look at the thread here about ordering one...

In the meantime, I'm staying in the tribe! ;) It's just a matter of time!

That sucks man, sorry to here about the luck. Well at least the dealer was up front with you. Good thinking on the stipulation though. Hang in there one that meets your criteria will pop up soon I'm sure. Oh welcome to the club...

Good luck with your new Av. ?I am sorry to hear of our dealership woes, but hopefully it will work out. ?

Also, welcome to the Indigo Blue tribe. ?One of us, one of us!!!!! ? ?;D

I guess I'm forturnate - my wife likes the Av 'almost' more than I do. She's the one who suggested taking advantage of GMAC 0% last December instead of waiting until spring as we had originally planned.

Good luck LazKat - I'm betting your wife will warm up to the Av - once the dealer finally gets you the truck you want!
