New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Hey all, just found the site and glad there is so much great info. I will need it since I picked up a 2005 1500 Avy on the cheap since the owner wanted to get rid of it after someone busted the passenger window and tried to steal it. They managed to get the column cover off and jiggered up the key cylinder so bad the key fits in but would not turn. Worse part was couldn't get in on position to remove the cylinder. Otherwise everything else looks good on the truck. We'll find out when I am able to get it started.

First success was being able do some picking and finally get the cylinder out and put in a new cylinder keyed to the current key. Turns one click and battery light comes on but won't turn any further and no other dash lights and no security light. Will have do some digging to find out if there is some sort of column disabler or other theft deterrent at play. If not will have to look into all the wiring to see if there was some damage I didn't see yet. Wish me luck.
Welcome Dr. My daughter lives in Chelsea, Ok.. Hope you have good luck with your Avalanche. I came here to learn also..

Hello Folks! I'm Joe Voorhees. Just became a member today, 1/17/21. I own a Silver Birch 2006 Avalanche LTZ71 with 97,408 miles. I've had it since 2009. It has the cladding. I thought they all did until 2007. Tell me if I'm wrong. I need help. I can't seem to locate the fuel filter. Its supposed to be on the driver's side frame rail. I don't see it. Anybody? Thanks.
Hi, Joe.

Hello! My name is Allison and I just acquired a 2002 single-family-owned Avalanche with 124k miles on it. I know nothing about these trucks, so I've been digging around doing research. I plan on investing in new tires and a truck tent for camping here in Texas.
Hello, Allison. I also am in the learning stage on these trucks. But like what I am seeing about them.. Hope to have mine for a long time. 03 Z71 Gold color.

First welcome to the site, There are many threads dealing with maintaining or restoring the cladding. One of the most popular treatments is a product called "Refinish Restorer" it s a liquid that you apply and it makes it appear new for several months before the need to reapply.
Here is a link to the product :

Thanks for the add... I have been prolific in my mind since selling my o4 Ford ST Adrenalin last week and buying my 02 medium sage green North face edition the following day. To say I love it so far is an understatement, such a perfect transition from my Sport trac, which I liked just fine but upgraded our travel trailer in the fall and needed a bigger tow vehicle for the coming season. I think I did well. You never know what you want until you first see it (the NFE sage green) and I had to have one!. So far in less than one week I purchased locally a vgc rear bed cover storage bag for 20 bucks and yesterday felt lucky to buy 2 nice NFE back packs coming soon via ebay!! My next quest is to find the duffle (tough one I know) and decide on a replacement grill emblem. I look forward to deep diving this site and learning/sharing more. I am so impressed with the Avalanche, I cant believe I was missing out on its amazing versatility...

I am a new member of the club and the original owner of a 2004 Z71. Looking forward to learning some maintenance and customization ideas from the group.

Hello, new owner of a previously modded 03 north face. Still going through it trying to figure out what's what but the site has been a big help already so thought I would post here to get started.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Hey new guy here, 2003 1500 cladded. Always wanted one and now I have one woohoo. Of course it's got issues but that how it goes.

Hello. New member here. Just bought a 2004 Avalanche base model last week. I live in central PA and picked it up just south of Washington DC. Its in great condition... The frame is amazing. I purchased it because my 2003 F150 is rusted beyond belief. I am satisfied with the vehicle so far. No issues that I'm aware of yet.
Thanks for having me on the team.

Hi, am new to this site so not sure how to post things. I got my '05 Avalanche 1500 LT 4x4 in May of '20. I am embarrassed to say I never liked them initially...but am so HAPPY AND ENTHUSIASTIC now that I have mine!!! I wouldn't trade it for any other truck. Not sure how to post pics...can someone help with that?

Welcome to the site, you have to have more posts in order to post photos but there are older threads on this site that explain various ways to post photos using the search function you should find them. I know there is a mountain of info and posts on this site but most questions are answered in the appropriate section ( brake questions in brake section, electrical questions in that section etc.)
get your favorite beverage get comfortable and just look around and enjoy yourself. :B:

Hey all!
Thanks for the accept, I’ve wanted an avalanche since I could check engine oil. Last month I finally got mine! An 06 Bermuda blue babe pictured in my avatar. I’ve tossed around eventually upgrading the truck for a 6L90. Has anyone ever done it, and can the 5.3 take it? Just something I’ve been wondering about. Thanks again guys!
