New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

I have been lurking here for a while and absorbing information about the Avalanches. Bought an 05 Z71 (Sunburst Metallic) about 3 years ago and have been adding to it as time passes. Supertuner Dashpaq, Kenwood headunit with sound ordinance 6.5s and tweeters in the door along with 2 10" MB Quartz subs, stainless exhaust with Flowmaster FX running 2 pipes out the rear, 54" light bar, 6" RC lift, Hardrock Affliction H700 wheels ( -44 offset, 4.77 backspacing, 20x12), 35x12.50 Renegade RT tires and bumpers sprayed with black bedliner. Soon to come 4.56 gearing and when the tranny goes thinking about Monster transmission replacement. Currently about 167k on the odometer.

Hi. My name is Peyton but most call me P. My username is a reference to my YouTube channel. I've always liked the look of the first gen avalanches since I was a little kid. Although I have not had the pleasure of owning one yet, I'm looking forward to purchasing one after I had an accident with my 02 Chevy Tahoe. I hope to meet some new Avy friends through this forum. Also, this is the first real forum I have ever joined so sorry if I mess something up.

Well, I've lurked long enough. Time for an account and a hello.

Bought a 2004 Base Sunburst Orange in early August. Wasn't sure about the color at first, bit the more it's been in my driveway, the more it's grown on me. Wasn't perfect, but for 17 years old and 121,500 on the clock, I'm okay with its condition. Previous owner insisted on getting the brakes repaired before she sold it to us (friend of mom's). I was fully prepared to do the work. But yay, one less bit if wrench turning.

I have since done shocks, sway bar links, bar to chassis bushings. And the EVAP. Oh sweet momma. When I went to fuel up the first time after replacing the canister...I almost cried because the pump didn't clock off until it was full.

Oh, also changed the valve bit, since that was actually throwing a code. And O2 sensors.

Previous owner has a low end head unit upgrade. I've since added a Sony with Android Auto. Replaced the cigarette lighter with a USB socket that looks practically OE. And clipped the BT mic into the cubby to the left of the cluster (where the 4x4 buttons would be) almost don't notice if if you aren't looking, and no wind noise reports with the AC on high.

Coming soon will be a backup camera as that's something I sorely miss from the other car.

Cooler weather projects (Florida humidity, ugh)...
Driver upper ball joint boot is leaking. Driver outer tie rod also leaking. I can keep squirting grease up into those until I can get them replaced.

But it's been fun. I haven't had any kind of project car or truck since I got rid of my 2002 Focus ZX3 back in 2016. Had a Kia Soul for a bit and also drive a Ford Edge frequently.

Friend of mine that's known me for 10+ years, "Yeah, way too much for me, but it's absolutely perfect for you."

Hello All,

First post. Jay out of NE Oklahoma. I have a cladded 02 1500 Z71. Build date 07/01. Summit white, custom front bumper, 35's on 17*9 Pro Comp 69's under a Rough Country 6in lift with kicker bars and steering stabilizer. 180k on the ODO currently. ISO AUX battery, winch, etc... Will post pics when I can. I use my Avy as an "overland" I guess you would say. I camp out of it when I'm hunting and whatnot. Gets me where I need to go and back. It's a daily, however I only "daily" about 5k miles a year, and most of that is travel to and from hunting/fishing locations throughout Oklahoma and Texas.

Hello everyone,

My name is Joe and my wife and I just inherited her deceased Father's 2004 Chevy Avalanche z66.

It had a service light engine on. I took it to my mechanic who looked it over. He replaced O2 sensor. O2 knock sensor, wiring harness and did a synthetic oil change.

He said it needed brakes and serpentine belts. Anyway first bill was $857 ......

I decided to do the brakes and both belts myself. Then I replaced the intake with a cold air kit.

The lights for brake finally went off and that horrendous warning noise the truck makes.

Just got title transfer, tags and insurance. This is my favorite vehicle.

It has 195000 miles and clean.

Next need to fix cracked dash, a-pillar on passengers side, headliner and put gibson exhaust. More mods to come.

Hello everyone. I’m new here but I own a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche and yes I had a shade tree mechanic attempt to fix my truck from oil leak and transmission leak. Well long story short he changed the valve cover gaskets put in new fuel injectors but now my truck doesn’t want to crank properly since. He says just drive it cause the computer has to set. But upon driving my truck start sputtering then he says trash in my line/ gas filter. So he states again just drive it which I did then 3 days later it started jerking into gear and started whining like it didn’t want to go in 3rd and 4th gear and yes I called him and I told him I don’t know what you’ve done to my truck but it’s worst now than before he touched her. Comes to find out there was no transmission fluid in my truck and I just had my oil changed at the shop and they checked off the level was good. Smh. I’m at a lost and after that he told me to go buy a transmission filter /gasket and he put them on and it’s still won’t change gears so it’s been sitting in my driveway cause all the transmission fluid has leaked out again just from sitting or he’s not sealing my new parts. Has Anyone else experienced anything close to this? I’ve learned never let someone that can’t warranty there work touch your property and it’s sad 😞 that we can’t help our own and get good results.
