New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Newly registered and here's my story, sorry if it gets long.
I bought a 2002 Avalanche 2500 last year that had 67,000 on the odometer, verified with Carfax. They're hard to find, so with pictures bought without seeing in person. Figured how bad could it be? Answer, very. Had to replace all the fuel lines as they were more brittle than paper mache and the "dealer" had cobbled them together. That took me a while. At the same time I replaced both fuel pumps and straps. Since the tanks were out scraped as much loose rust as I could and soaked it all with Woolwax. Replaced some other things to get it driving and still have a number of parts to do this spring when I get time. I was lucky that the brake lines had all been replaced fairly recently and we're in good shape.
Body wise it's not bad. The place I bought it from replaced the rockers and actually did a decent job of it. The bottoms of the doors are perfect somehow. There was rust above the fenders. It was sort of fixed, but I don't think it will last long term, we will see. Looks decent now though.
I went through these forums to help with a few issues along the way and figured I may as well join.
The only problem I still have is filling the tanks. I fired the parts cannon and replaced the charcoal canister, the little vent by the rear axle, and the purge solenoid for good measure. Waste of money. I think my problem is the little flap on the auxillary tank "T'. Really wish I pulled it when the tank was out. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

Hey gang! I'm glad I found this group, since I inherited my '02 Z71 when my brother passed a bit over a year ago. Currently over 200000 miles with NO rust, just general maintanance and the occasional replacement parts. Pretty much stock, but looking to upgrade the suspension and thinking about lowering it for a more street truck look. Anyone know how to lower the torsion bars a couple of inches in the front? Can't seem to find replacement keys to do this...

Welcome to the site!
You should ask your questions in the appropriate section in order to get the most replies. There are many threads already that cover altering the suspension in the suspension section. Back in the day owners who wanted to lower the front would get Ford keys in order to get more travel. Others would get a full lowering suspension kit from aftermarket.
Since you have a 2002 it should have lower plastic cladding and that can be an area for hidden rust so be sure to look under and see if you spot areas of rust from underneath vehicle.

The truck is rough around the edges but does all I ask of it! Thanks everyone for the site info. Pics otw.....

Fein sending hello from Alberta Canada. 2006 Avalanche 1500 driver...luv luv. Great time reading many posts, advice and stories from fellow Avalanche owners. Looking forward to taking part.

Greetings. I bought my base model in Dec. '03. I'm still keeping it on the road after 305,000 miles as it serves my mission (commercial photog) very well and the ride is hard to beat. Hope to find a few gems here on the forum about little gremlins that pop up from time to time.

Hi I'm NULL
I just bought my first Avy it's a 2003 and wanted to immerse myself into the community, and get help when I eventually have problems because she's at 270K.

Hello everyone, I'm new here. My name is Deidra and I own a 2002 Avy Z66 1500. I live in TN & have wanted an Avy for a very long time. I finally found one for the right price & am beginning to get it how I want it. I have used this forum before becoming a member to find info so I decided to join 🙂

Hello, Orphanmage here. Actually, my real name is Craig, and with as many Avalanches I see around here in AZ, know I made a good choice in trucks. I picked up my 04 Z66 about 6 years ago, First vehicle I've owned that wasn't sub $1000. Still proudly drive it as my daily Driver,
