New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Thank you. Was becoming seriously discouraged. As you can see on my updated profile, I have MANY vehicles, and belong to a multitude of forums, but never encountered that type of restriction. I thought it was forum wide. I like to be helpful to others, when I can, as I have many years of experience modifying, upgrading, and repairing cars, truck, bikes, boats, computers, and other electronics, but I prefer to be detailed in my communication. Thanks again, YGMN.

Anyway, folks, nice to meet you all and become a part of the forum. As stated above, I've been around a bit, On-Road, Off-Road, and everything in between. I'm basically an electronics/computer guy (to keep it simple), with a lot more mechanical experience than I wish to admit, and will help where I can, from my perspective.

I lived down in Baltimore for years, and now live in "South Central" Pa. area. Bought my '04 back in March with about 194K miles on her, after being told by people, who really didn't know, that the RV I purchased was too big for my ZR2 to pull.

She was neglected a bit (lights TAPED on... seriously, broken tailgate latch, running boards/kick panels rusted out, door switches not working, weird wiring all over, loose tool boxes, no bed mat... I can go on and on), but I've been slowly but surely bringing her back from the brink.

Took her out for a 4500 mile torture test through the mid-West from June through August, after replacing a water pump (which didn't need replacing) and a $4 gasket (which was the problem); she had to EARN the right to replace my Blazer ZR2 (which was just restored to Factory Specs at 190K miles), and, well, she's still here, so that says it all, right.

So, that's my Avalanche story, in a nutshell, so far, (I'll discuss mods and repairs elsewhere), and I look forward to meeting you all, here and out there!

Hi there! Just purchased a 2003 Z71 with ~135k miles. First pick-up, but getting a little back to my roots as my first car was a 1999 GMC Suburban (sold that a decade ago). I seem to have a bit of a preference for discontinued GM products these days as I also have a Pontiac Solstice in the stable 😆

Hello, I'm Mike. I have a 2012 LTZ . Nice to meet everyone and thanks for all the great information.

Hello,

I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500.

I have been reading the forums for years, since my Dad had an Avalanche. I think I have another account as well, but I can't access it right now.

Well, not new, but happy to be back. Picked up a 2004 Arrival Blue at the end of October. Got two tanks of gas through it and she started blowing white smoke. At 236,000 miles, I won't even say I'm surprised. If anything I was hoping to make it until May before I started major overhaul and mods. So, now she sits in the garage. Waiting to see what I come up with for this one. My last Avvy ended up super charged, so you can assume this one will be more than just a new set of head gaskets. Glad to be back with the color I always dreamed of.

It's a nice truck mine is sunset burnt orange not happy about the color but I love my avalanche

Hello! I happened upon a 2006 Avalanche Z71 a few months ago. Friend and his wife were moving from AZ to OH and needed to let it go. Sold it to me for $1K.... couldn't say no! I've since put tires on, replaced all the shocks, and began replacing bushings. Truck is in pretty good shape and has become my daily driver. Pictures as soon as I can figure out how to do it. I really love this truck.

The orange took some time to grow on me, but I really like them. If I'd found an orange or yellow with the body and interior in the condition of what I found, I would have grabbed one.
