New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Hi fellow Ave owners Just joined the forum but have visited it several times. Have an 04 1500 Avalanche, Z71 Off Road Dark Charcoal Metallic with cladding. Has about 135K on it now. Don't drive much over 6K a year. Have done a lot of general maintenance on it since I traded a gas sucking Dodge ½ with 318 for it about 5 years ago. Just got it out of the shop after new front brake line kit installed. Blew the RF a couple weeks ago in town with little traffic. Don't use any oil since I switched to Walmart brand bulk High Mileage oil. Was using about a quart /3K change but after 3-4 changes it quit using oil all together. Other repairs were normal maintenance items like battery, alternator, brakes, shocks, fuel pump, couple bulbs, transmission flushed, etc. Was thinking of trading up but with the way prices have increased, interest rates, etc and mine is paid for and has been for some time I think I will just keep on driving it till it dies. Be nice to go up to an 12 or 14 though. The newer they are the more electronic control stuff is on them and the more expensive they are to have worked on. Rear doors won't lock now, only manually individually and to track that problem down is a real PITA.

After reading numerous threads and posts on this forum and other regarding the locking/unlocking the back door on the Chevy Avalanche I thought I would start at the cheapes and easiest fix. I stopped at NAPA this afternoon and picked up a door lock/unload relay, Just shy of $20. Like I read on other post the labeling of the relays is reversed on the cover. The lock is on the bottom relay, not the top. Pulled the top and put in the new relay and no change. Pulled the bottom relay and put in the one from the top and - BINGO ! The door lock and unlock from the drivers control door switch. A big thanks to the members that steered me in the right and cheapest direction to fix this issue. Thos door have not locked with the door switch or the remote for a couple years and such a simple fix. Life is good !

Hello folks, first time poster long time Avalanche owner. I have a 2002 North Face edition who’s name is Betsy that I’ve owned for 12 years. Sadly she was tboned a few weeks ago and is going to be totaled out. Lucky for me it was just the door and I’m gonna be keeping her to repair at some point. Anyway just dropping in to say howdy.

Thanks for the add. 2002 avalanche 1500 4wd about to put my 2nd transmission in it, thinking of going with a 5spd. 4l60e is in it now. Sioux City Iowa is home. Thanks

Hello, My name is James. I recently acquired my avalanche from a family friend who has had it for the last 20 years. She is a little rough and I am in the process of trying to return her to beyond her former glory hopefully. The interior was stripped fully insulated and all the panels have been repainted, I replaced the heater core while I was in there, and made a new stereo system setup with focal speakers and a Polk 5.1 amp in the factory location.

I have more to do, such as a 2003 6.0 at the machine shop and a t-case rebuild kit. Taking it one step at a time hoping it can be a super reliable daily at some point. Some people might think I am crazy for investing in a old pickup but hopefully I can find some people who share my point of view on here. I look forward to chatting with everybody!

I love my custom Avalanche 2500 4x4 SAS.

Unfortunately, I broke a leg really bad and I need to sell it because I am having trouble getting in and out of it due to the lift kit.
I joined to list it, because it's a gem that someone here would definitely like to own.

Hello all,
I just joined this elite club yesterday. I've recently purchased a 2006 Avalanche Z71. I bought it to replace my 1988 Silverado. Unfortunately a bearing went in the engine and with 325k miles it was time to say goodbye. I have always wanted an Avalanche so this was the perfect opportunity to get one. I'm the 3rd owner and has 182k miles. Runs great. My only issue at the moment is the front of the hood is rusting. Went to the local junkyard to hopefully find a replacement. No luck. Other than that, I love it.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to join this club.

Hello all!!

New member here!!

I just purchased a 2004 Avalanche and it is my first GM product. So far I am happy with it but would like to learn any of the tricks y’all can teach me.

Hi, all. Jim here in northwest GA. 2003 AV had for going on 5 years, Done so much and so much still to do.

New member here. I've owned my avalanche since 2020. I bought it for $4500 with 113k miles. The transmission was slipping in gears 2, 3, 4. I had the transmission replaced for $1500 and upgraded some little things here and there on the truck. I'm starting to want to do more to it and am wanting to get the best options for my truck so I joined here so I can learn what the community thinks.
