New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Hi New member and thanks! Glad to find this group. Been hard finding answers to help me till I got here. Ppl keep stealing parts off my truck so now I'm having to replace them myself. I LOVE my truck and don't ever want to take it to a mechanic again. Every time I do 5 major are wrong and missing when I get it back. I have a great 02' 1500 Z71 fully loaded. Black. Got it for cheap. So many ppl are jealous and or think I'm rich because I drive such an awesome beast. I hope I can learn a lot here. Thank you!

hello, thanks for letting me join.

my avalanches are as follows

2002 2500 4x4 8.1 green exterior and blue interior with sand color headliner. kinda odd factory combo i pull a 16,000 Lb rv with it. other than the gas i think its the best production combo chevy ever put out.

2005 1500 4x2 5.3 factory blue paint that some how has stayed amazing as far as color ive done nothing special except wash it and maintain it does have electrical gremlins but all easy fix's' its my daily driver.

:welcome: to the club Raekal. Did your uncle work at the truck plant in flint or the tech center in Warren

I know for certain that he is currently working at the GM global propulsion systems center in Pontiac. However, i do not know if he has always worked there or used to be at Warren at some point. Ill have to ask him the next time I see him. For some reason I remember talking to him about warren at some point, but I cannot recall the context. I do however remember that he had the avalanche for a transmission specific real world trial. I cant remember if they were having a specific quirk with it or what was going on. I honestly haven't put much thought into it until now. Im sure the conversation will come up when he sees me pull in with it.

Hey from BC Canada! I just bought an '04 Avalanche Z71 1500 a cpl weeks ago. Grey Slate colour with all the cladding, leather and power everything. She seams in great shape all around, bone stock, with minimal and typical wear for 17. Super happy to find this club as, although I'm a chevy guy, I knew nothing about the Avalanche or the 5.3 and I have alot! of questions. My last truck, an '89 Z71 single cab pickup, decided to quit after I'd worked her a bit too hard for her age. I found the Av, perfect truck for my family, hunting, fishing and driving to work. My favorite things so far is the removable back window and wall, and the Bose speakers.

Hi to all those LUCKY Avalanche owners !
I'm actually a current owner using a new name due to a system disaster that is forcing me to
recover a lot account info from several hundred accounts that I've been a member of for a long time.
I'm slowly getting everything back together using old backup disks.
I recently had some issues with the dash info center (Speedometer and gauges) and I remember someone posting
info about a similar issue (all the gauges going inert but the engine still running).

Gee Ma-ninny, I love this truck.

Kind regards to all,
Robert J. Scarborough

If the speedo and other gauges are wonky, the stepper motors need to be replaced. Lights out, means soldering some very hard to find bulbs on the board, and if the DIC and PRNDL is dim or not lit up then there are a few surface mount resistors that need to be resoldered.

Hello all, I've had an account of here for a while but never made a post before. Back in 2018 (maybe), my parents got me a 2002 Avalanche North Face Edition with close to 190k miles for my first vehicle. I no longer use it as my daily since I have about an 80min round trip for college but I still use it often for short trips to town and back. Overall the truck is really solid but is suffering from rust here in Indiana. This year we are planning on doing a front-to-back rust treatment and prevention, installing nerf bars, repainting the cladding, and making sure the back cladding is 100% mounted since it sometimes makes a flapping noise when going down the road.
Also, the North Face Edition package is really neat to have since I've yet to see any other ones in person before, it definitely gave the interior a unique look too.

Hey Bryce here. I just bought a fully loaded Z71 03 Avalanche. Only has 140k on it, mint condition. Added a few mods already. Nice to find a place where I can ask questions and show some tutorials on how I did some of the mods. Truck was garage kept it's whole life I suspect that's why it's not rusted to heck. I live in Indiana so rust is commonplace.

Hey Jay here. New to the club. Recently picked up a 2003 Avalanche 1500 Z-71 with 163K. It already has many upgrades so I am trying to learn what is what as I go. Plus I am a techy, not a gear head by nature, so I will ask dumb questions lol
