Hello to all.
I've owned my 2012 Black on Black Ava LT since April of 2017. Even though it was 5 years old when I found it for sale, it only had around 33K on it. It also looked like it had been garaged with no fade what so ever on the paint, clear head lights, and an interior that still smelled new. I was certain I would not find a better Avalanche - maybe anywhere across the country. How could I not snap up a really good condition example that had averaged only 6K miles a year.
I needed a really good daily driver, and it hasn't disappointed. I always thought the Avalanche was a great concept, and I've used the mid gate feature on a regular basis. I also regularly drive with 4 adults and everyone is always impressed at the comfort level the truck offers.
My regular use has the truck approaching 70K miles, and a little pulsation from hard braking tells me it's time for new brakes. Thinking I might leave this to the pros, but estimates from local shops are $1200 to $1500 for all 4 corners. Not a shock, but I'd probably do the fronts separately and go for the rears later. I'm pretty handy with basic mechanics and have worked on brakes before, so also considering a DIY. I'm interested to hear what other owners think of aftermarket product from companies like EBC and Power Stop. Or if a particular brand is good, or bad.
Responses appreciated. Thanks!
