New Members Say Hello & Post Here First

Hey folks ! Just got a 2008 Chevy Avalanche. Im in love but I have just one question. is it true that transmission fluid can restore the black to the trim?
Welcome to the site but short answer is NO to transmission fluid !
Take some time and read what most members do to restore their cladding.........In the section about maintenance for older threads etc.
Most use Refinish Restorer or Cerakote (sp?) for best results.

Whoopsie, didn't check here first.

My name is Zane but everyone calls me Zerrth. I'm looking for an Avalanche/EXT for family trips, Lowe's trips, tow rig, and to hopefully be the truck for my kids to get. I have a 1997 GMC Sonoma Southern Comfort that I love, but if I'm gonna become Captain Zerrth, a Sonoma won't tow the boat I picked out. Thanks all.

Welcome!

The Virginia Eagle Av is correct there's a lot of knowledge on that subject on here, it's probably the biggest aesthetic flaw on these trucks.

I Tried 3-4 trim restorers, sanding, heat gun, brass wire wheel, and was about to try baseball bat when I saw one sprayed with Raptor Liner that looked A+. Ended up pulling ALL of mine off, washed them, scuffed them, washed, sprayed adhesion promoter, then sprayed two coats Duplicolor Trim and Bumper paint. Lot of work but looks phenomenal. Hindsight, should've masked off truck instead, most of the work was getting all of it off/on. Good luck! Don't be shy if you have questions.....and don't use Wipe New unless they're the color you want them to be for the next year or so!

Hello… I am up in Canada, Martensville, SK to be exact. Truck driver turned truck and trailer mechanic apprentice, and back to truck driving.
Bought my favourite truck an ‘09 Avalanche few years back. Now I get to fix it too…I’m starting to see the end of the repair list.
