This is a video of MTX supposedly "smoking" the competition. I'm not going to say that the 9500 isn't a monster sub, but this type of advertising is totally idiotic and proves absolutely nothing other than the fact that MTX worried about the competition.

Here's the link to the video
, it's a large file and took about 30 seconds to load and view, so give it a little time.

You'll notice they only mention input voltage here. They never once say what frequency those subs are producing, if they are even playing the same frequencies. Keep in mind that power handling (voltage) will vary from frequency to frequency due to the impedence curve of the drivers being tested. Power handling is typically greatly reduced below the driver's resonant frequency, so that would certainly explain the results of this test, since the MTX has the highest FS of the bunch, and I'll bet the L7 and W7's are playing tones below their FS.

That is totaly stupid! I agree with you DS, that is NOT how to sell subs... MTX's sales must be going down or something has them scared. I like MTX's stuff, they are pretty good subs for very little cash. But, this I think this is a joke though. But, this 9500 is aimed for SPL comp I am sure... For SPL comp they might just be able to smoke some companies but, not all of them. Interesting how they only compared it to JL and Kicker, they did not even have the subs in enclosures either some subs react totaly different when in an enclosure. Some subs will have a power handling increase when in the propor box becasue they NEED a load on them for the sub to work right... I am not impressed at all by this display. (y)

I don't think they are marketing their product with this video to people that understand car audio. Just bragging rights for the knuckleheads.

ARe they comparing COMPETITION MODEL vs. COMPETITION MODEL within the same frequencies and such??? If not, it's not fair, right?

Totaly Yak, it is not a fair fight. Voltage huh... In the real world you would never be feeding a sub 106vlots for more then a split second when listening to normal music. If you competing that is another story though but, even then. Durning an SPL comp your system is brought to max out put a few seconds, not ten minutes...

MTX, Bunch of god damn mokeys playing their opossible thumbs and showin' off thats all!! AHAHAHA LoL >:D
