Has anybody noticed that chevy has quietly changed the leather seats in the 03. The top of the line bun burners no longer have articulating headrests or the bow tie. I can live without the bow tie but not the headrests. When I asked my dealer about it he said that I could buy the 02 headrests and install them on the 03. What's the deal????

O.K., I don't have the bunwarmer seats, have the cloth buckets instead.

What are the "articulating headrests"?

We also have the cloth buckets, but the dealer showed us this on one with the full leather, and our 300M had the feature. Basically, rather than just being able to do the usual up and down motion of the headrests, you can also tilt them forward or backward in a few positions, by pulling on them one way or the other. This way, you can have them angled closer to the back of your head is you'd like. I actually wish our cloth buckets had this, but you can't have everything I guess!

Funny that you would ask what is articulating. I asked the dealer the same thing. The dealer said he didn't know but that he would look it up in the dictionary. Any way the headrest adjusts forward to rest under your neck. For those of us with the 02 and the articulating headrests we know how darn good they feel. The 03 literature still claims to have them. But they are gone.

If you want a good example of articulation, think about those Action figures whom are posable. When the joints can be moved via a pivoting action, that's your articulation. Like a Front-end loader that pivots in the middle on an axis.

Dictionary.com defines articulation as: "A jointing together or being jointed together. A fixed or movable joint between bones. " They go on to further define articulation: "The act of putting together with a joint or joints; any meeting of parts in a joint. The state of being jointed; connection of parts."

Let's call this "the word of the day"

Jamie,
Thanks for you valuable information. I expect that is everything we need to know about articulation. But what about the missing bow ties on the 03 seats. Has chevy done away with the bow tie.

I love the bowtie's on the 02's..I think it gives the truck a sportier image.....and the headrest very rarely do I mess with..unless I'm going on a long trip and try to make myself as comfortable as I can.... :B:

I agree about the bow ties. Does anyone know why they did away with them? Goo or one of you with the GM connections, can you answer this?

I have never asked to find the official reason. I like them on the neutral interior but looks a little too much on the graphite ones. To each their own. There are comments about them in some of the other threads too. I think it may have been the result of one of their "group studies" they held.

Here's someone who did something about his:
