I've had mine about three weeks now and I love it. I've done some searching around this site and I'd like to confirm a few things.

Cladding - I take it this is all the plastic around the outside. I wasn't planning on treating it, other than cleaning. But I guess it needs a treatment now and then. 303 appears to be a popular choice, where do I pick some up?

I've noticed that when I have the heat / AC fan shut off, I still get air out of all the vents. Is this normal? I never noticed it in my previous vehicles.

I am planning on putting a new air intake system and muffler on it. Who has done this and is it worth it? Does it void the manufacturer warranty or a extended warranty (if I decide to get one)?

Thanks, Doug

Welcome to the club. Try the forum search and set days to check at 300. You can probably be assured these ?'s have already been discussed.

Welcome CO Z71, you're going to have a great time here, not to mention probably go broke >:D. Here's what I know regarding your questions.

1) 303 is fantastic, I origianlly was turned on to it to increase the life of my vinyl spa cover. I get mine at Spa Depot (no tax and no shipping).
303

2) Can you provide a little more info on your setup? Do you have the climate control etc. Maybe someone else knows the answer offhand but I don't notice air coming through my vents when it's off and I do have the climate control.

3) I believe the intake and muffler are a great way to start modding. I added a flowmaster 70 series muffler and a K&N FIPK and love it. I can't say I notice a huge power differenct but my truck absolutely has more power and the sound is awesome. There's other brands as well and if you read enough posts you'll see it's pretty much preference so get what you like and have fun! (y)

Welcome aboard CO Z71.
For your intake/exhaust questions, just go to the performance & modifications forum. There are NUMEROUS topics covering different intakes and exhaust systems as well as pictures folks here have taken of their setups and installs.

Welcome to the Club!

First, you need to get your priorities straight! First thing you need to worry about is getting a better audio system... ;D

As far as the air out of vent is concerned, is this while driving? if it is, you can push one of the buttons to prevent outside air coming in. I think it's the "re-circulate" button....

Welcome to the club!

Whatever anybody tells you the most important thing is to avoid being bitten by the Mod Bug! ;)

Spend alot of time searching through the different posts. You will learn alot. Like C-Rod said, the stereo needs some attention. Right now I am upgrading the exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler. Again, just do a search.

Once again welcome to the club! ;D

Welcome to the club!

I have noticed this on all of my previous GM vehicles with manual controls. Off really isn't off, it's just very low. There is always air movement, for ventilation I assume. Long ago I read that this is intentional.

However, both my Av, and the Blazer it replaced, have the auto climate controls. This fan control does have an off position, and it apparently does indeed turn off the system.

Welcome to the most expensive "free" club you'll ever join. (And maybe the best, w/ allot of fun characters (y)). The mod bug bite is irreversible.

First it was a harmless club decal. Then Stripeman's raised letters. Then came the alloy fuel door, and w/ Bowtie's tantalizing post and some assistance from carrerarod, the Magnaflow and chrome tip was added. A flag bowtie is in the mail (since I didn't win it in the raffle; oh, I almost forgot, you'll need raffle tickets). Waiting for a second go 'round for a UPD FIPK GP (anyone listening?), and now I see where I can buy some 303; so I just did. The Mag-lite in the cargo box post had my attn today, so it (2 in Camo) and the clips are in the mail. OMG!, here come the cr card bill! And this isn't even serious gearhead stuff yet. Now carrerarod say we HAVE to change the sound system, so I gotta ask him if it's OK to proceed with using the "perfect subwoofer location" (you'll find that thread soon enuf) for the chrome fire extinguisher. And I'm seriously thinking about the Hitch Cam. Help! I'm an addict! ;D

Hope you're single, bud. "Is that another UPS box for the truck?!"

Run, while you have a chanc.....ooops, too late pal. I think we've got you. >:D

Hi there,

Welcome to the club from another Colorado (in Lakewood, CO) member!

Have you heard about the CO AV cruise on the 29th of the month? The more the AVs, the better ;D. Check it out if you'd like :).

Doug - you can get 303 at the REI in Downtown - go to the canoe section. ?About $13 for a large bottle.

Come on the CO cruise and I will show you my UPD intake and muffler mod :) ?The intake and muffler mod are worth it at our altitude. ?The air is thin enough and we need as much help as possible. :)

Welcome aboard. You'll find all the answers to your questions by doing a simple search. I'm sure fellow members have already pointed you in the right direction.

Welcome aboard...you now have the opportunity to be apart of this growing Av family...as far as your questions go..it would easier to just search the other forums in need of answers...they have been discussed thoroughly.....once again..welcome and have fun... :B:

Welcome aboard!.
Yes, even though your ac/fan system is off, as long as the vent button is selected your vents will stay open, and the faster you're driving the more air will get pushed through them. Just hit the recirculate button to cloe them up.

As far as exhaust/intake - I did a flowmaster 40 series dual matched with the UPD K&N combo, and am extremely happy with it. ;D

Thinking about that mod for yourself? Do you think a can of Foster's will fit?

Actually, come to think of it, you might have to mod all of the cup holders to get those cans to fit! >:D

Is that part of the RHD conversion process?

Welcome :D
I'm a new member too, and a brand new AV owner. My baby and I have been together about a week. I've been lurking and learning since day one! The mods keep coming. As a lot of folks have told you, just search thru the posts and you can probably find the answer to most any question. Here's a pic of her taken today down on the gulf coast, tropical storm and all!
Congratulations on your new AV ;)
