I just put my Volant intake in. I haven't even driven it yet! I got is from another member...plus a K&N Air Filter with recharger kit included in the deal. It was an easy install....considering I'm not very mechanically inclined. But I'm Learning!!! >:D

Is it necessary for me to "reset" my computer? If so, how is that done?

Also, my dad is a mechanic (maybe I inherited some knowledge) but he can't believe that I'm going to see that much of a difference with this intake compared to stock. He says they seem to have put a good intake on it already. I figured I should just complete "the system" since I have a FM40 with duals... >:D

Thanks!!!

Congrats.

Can you help here http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php?board=106;action=display;threadid=26404

Yes you need to reset the computer. Look in the manual for easy directions. But, it requires disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it. Simple process but if you are making other engine mods requiring resetting you may consider doing them first [i.e., new exhaust added] . And the thread above referenced is a terrific assistance for you to review. Welcome to happy modding! :D ;D

Thought I would say I just got mine installed and man what a PITA. Everything was good but then the box only 3 bolts fit. Then the tube.... ARGH Ok so I show that I am a Software Engineer now, it took me 2 hours. Granted I over thought EVERY step and double checked everything I did, I am nervous messing around with such expensive things :2:

THANKS JUSTMOVE for being a "support" line. (y)

I just completed my Volant install as well. I did not see anything in the owners manual about re-setting the computer. One of the posts here said disconnect the battery. Questions is this, can you just disconnect the negative terminal or do you need to do both?

Don't feel bad 03Lanche, I had similar difficulties with mine. It took me just over 1 hour to install, my biggest trouble was getting the factory airbox out. The thing just didn't want to come out. The install is more involved than most other air intakes, but compared to most other air intakes with boxes and boast big gains, The Volant is the one that gets true readings because its box is fully contained and can pull the most cold air. Whereas an intake like K&N boasting 26HP , and it has a totally open box, I have a hard time believing that. Trust me all your hard work will be payed off with the added performance.
Hope you like it and enjoy. ;D

Thanks James. I do like it so far, nice growl sound. >:D I am just nerous after learning / watching the True Flow sponge system, thats why I posted asking if anyone install a K&N Pre-Charger (sponge wrap) on the volant. I have a dusty drive to work and would like more protection.

I do like the Volant though, soon to be matched up with my Flowmaster Super 40 (install is 6/4/2004 next friday. >:D >:D
