Does any one know what are my options for wheels and tires for a non-lifted 02 2500. I want bigger, and don?t know what will fit.

Also, when i am in park or neutral, and punch the throttle, the voltage drops when the RPM's come down. Can i put a larger Alternator to stop that??

I got 265-75-16 with a aggressive tread, no problem, but if I went any bigger I think it would rub when going into a corner, but who knows. :)

I have h2 wheels goodyear mt 285/70/17 cranked up my torsion bars, trimmed the plastic very little with no problems at all. I think it rides as new but sits more like a truck.

Lets see a pic AV.....BTW,Welcome to the club (y)

I will have to second OviedoAV's motion of getting some pics.

I am getting ready to dump my 245s and would love to see how the 265's and the 285's with the torsion bars cranked.

I had 265's on my GMC Sierra Z71 (Goodyear Wrangler TDs) which looked good but I will probably go with the BFGs this time around.

Now, 265s or 285s? ;D

AV,

how much has to be trimed in the back for the H2's to clear.... Damn, I almost bought them on ebay last week, and didnt because i thought that they woudnt fit. Can you take a pic of what needed to be cut in the back??

And there is no rubbing at all? Thats awsome, I need to see some pictures.

I'm in the process of getting an extra rim so I can test the 285's on my 02 2500. As far as the back end I have told that it will hold up to 305's so I can't see what would rub in the back end the problem with the front end is when the wheel is turned.

If you have the mud flaps these may have to be trimmed.

I would be interested in more info but so far that's what I've been told.

If the 275/75/16 fits the 2500 with no problem then it would also go to say that the 295/70/16 would also fit since the tires are almost the exact same size except the 295/70/16 is a bit wider.

If anyone has additonal information please add it to this postring

There is no such thing as a 275/75/16?
I know on my truck i have the 265/75/16's and they fit fine. I would like to go to a 285/75/16. The first number is the width of the tire. I dont know if the 285/75/16 would fit on the stock rim????? does any one know? ???

I did some research these are what is available in BFGoodrich including the std size for Avalanche 2500

BFGoodrich? Tires All-Terrain T/A

LT245/75R16/E 6.5 - 7.5 30.6 3042@80 STD

LT265/75R16/D 7.0 - 8.0 31.8 3042@65

LT285/75R16/D 7.5 - 9.0 32.9 3305@65

I confirmed with the Dealer as well as a Tire specailist the the LT285/75R16/D 7.5 - 9.0 is the largest tire thatn can be installed on the stock rim.

I think you'd be pushing it with the 295/70/16s. That's what I'm running right now and I have a 3" lift and the Ford keys. Before I got the Ford Keys I had to do a little plastic trimming but that may be because I have an aftermarket rim with a larger offset. If you are using stock rims, who knows, you might be able to make them fit since the wheel isn't pushed out as much.

Hope this helps!

:D

If you are going with BFGoodrich go with the 285's but I'll confirm that with you shortly as I'm getting a set installed some time in the next week >:D

Yea i am buying the BFG AT's in 285 75 16 and will crank the t-bars to level the truck out at the same time. I hope they fit good. sure will look good. got a great deal on the rubber (120 a tire). I take photos when its complete

;D that is a very good price!

Thats the size i'm shooting for as well and probably like you will have to get the keys turned a bit but the Ass end should be fine.

when you get pics send em through I'll get mine and we'll compare.

Installed Bridgestone Revo's 285\75\r16

Tires look great !!!
what a huge difference from the stock 245's.
The torsion bar was raised to it's maximum about 1.5 inches and there was some slight rubbing on the inner drivers side wheel well we heated up the platic and flatened it out and that solved the rubbing..

I went with the Bridgestones instead of BF Goodrich because the tread was much more aggresive looking on the REVO's and they are rated better.

Not to raise your ire but do you really think the Revo has a more aggresive tread than the BFG AT? My brother has the Bridgestones on his lifted jeep and the reason he bought them over the BFGs was because they were less aggressive, quiter on the road and a better overall "wet traction" tire. - At any rate I don't think you could go wrong with either and the Revo is probably a better choice if you want the best compromise for all weather situations.

My .02?

I went to get the tires done and had ordered were the BFG AT and when I put those next to the REVO.

The REVO looked better and the depth of the tread and appearence was much more aggresive.

I did a search on the web and visited 3 consumer based sites and at all 3 the Bridgestone REVO was rated higher than the BFG's
