Took the Av to Best Blast II in Rockaway, NJ to get treated with NHOU. If this stuff does 1/2 of what they advertise I will be a happy camper. NHOU website

If you don't mind my asking, how much did it cost? Mine is in need of some loving.

frito it was $500.00. That was clear oil inside the frame & the doors, and the dark oil underneath and in the wheel wells. They started wrapping the Av at 10am and I was driving home by 1pm.

If a shop says it can be done in 20mins or so and that they don’t need to wrap the vehicle, don’t use them. The plastic tarp was covered with fine droplets of the oil. Granted you can wash it off the paint with Dawn, but you really shouldn’t have to if the shop covers it.

OIL? not very environmentally friendly?

Does it not wash off over time?
so this is not paint?

See this is different to us southern peeps as we do not have this issue of salt on roads unless a Hurricane storm surge pushes it ashore...

but then it tends to go back out to sea...

They tell you to not use high pressure water to clean the undercarriage.
No not paint.
Was explained that after the initial application you should follow up once a year for a “refresher” coat. This again from what I was told is generally about $100/year.

If your frame is clean, paint and other hard anti rust solutions like POR-15 are likely better options for that use case. Otherwise, you need to spend the time on a crusty truck doing a lot of surface prep for the more 'permenant' solutions to really stick. If you dont, they sometimes can be worse choices then leaving it bare.

the oil (lanolen/ sheep wool wax) products are the primary choice when there is already rust present. It doesnt really care about surface prep, it sticks to everything and soaks into the rust. It's still a good idea to get the super loose stuff off, but it works to repel instead of making a barrier, meaning it never really can cause further damage. But the ability to skip over most of the surface prep is why it can be done so cheap.

For anyone curious how each type of product holds up over time and against conditions like brine, stone chips, pressure washing, ect. this is a good video.

I'm personally debating whether I want to spend the 1-2 afternoons doing it myself, or just having a place do it for me at that price.I'd have to wear a painters suit on a creeper xD

I get mine done every fall at the main location in New Hampshire…. I live there
Cost is 300 a year at the main location for them. I guess the independent dealers charge more

I was told initial application cost more and that yearly maintenance was $300/year.

Went and had a “refresh” done on the NHOU this morning. Was really impressed with how well it’s held up. Even Brian the original “installer” was impressed how well its lasted. For those interested it was $150 for the touch up. IMG_1736.jpegIMG_1737.jpegIMG_1738.jpegIMG_1735.jpeg
