No heat going to the floorboards.

Sure seems there is little to no heat going to the floorboard even with the HVAC controls directed to the floor. No problem with the vents and dash. Sure sounds like a diverter door.

How can I diagnose this, and where is the correct diverter door?

I think you're after the actuator behind the radio. See the article below, youtube video, and the attached 'electrical component locator'.


What model year truck are we discussing? My guides are for 2nd gen, but should be awfully similar for 1st gen.

Not at work now and I spent a few more minutes looking.. check out the video at 1:40. If he's right, the actuator/door that controls which vents are used is to the right of the driver's feet. Looks fairly simply to get to. Remove the actuator and manually open/close the door (with an allen key or something similar to the actuator) as a test to see if the air is redirected to the vent of your choosing.
