Well here is an odd one. It seems the torque management on my Avalanche has turned itself off.

Over the weekend there were a couple of times I had to give it the gun and instead of that drop in power and then a pull it just lit up. Kind of cool but unsettling.

Has anyone else had this? Although if I have an issue with the tranny I know I should get it fixed - but life without torque management and 285 HP set free is kind of cool! (y)

Hey Chief-
How much more power do you have from a stop? How about on the freeway when you pass someone? Sounds kind of cool not having torque management!

Actually I'm not enjoying it. The first time I discovered my "problem" I was pulling out and turning left at the same time (ya I know you can spin them because of the differentials).

Well my Avy just completely lit up. The rear end swayed out the tires were screaming and then it did the side to side thing as it straightened out and I modified the power.

With it getting very wet around here now and seeing what it's like to let the ponies run free - I'd rather have it back on. What would be IDEAL is a way to turn it off and on at will. It feels a hair quicker off the line - but I think that is only in feel, have to watch the gas or it breaks loose.

Can you light 'em up in a straight line on dry pavement? You mention turning and the weather being wet there, which would make it especially easy to get a wheel spinning, have the locker engage, and find your Av wagging its tail. Been there, done that (no t-shirt, though, as I wouldn't want to be accused of being a poser).

Not trying to insult your intelligence here, just want to make sure it's not the locker on damp pavement. :)

This sounds really odd because with my '03 Z66 I _can_ turn it off and on - pushbutton on the dash and a bright yellow warning symbol on the cluster when I disable it. Is that just a Z66 thing?

Sounds like a problem I wouldn't mind having. I hate to try to a nice burnout for someone and have mine fall on it's face :8:
