Noise From Air Sensor

Hello again... now that I realize the little "speaker thing" over my head is the air temp sensor...I know what is rattling. Now I need to know how to fix it...It sounds like a small fan hitting something. Does the small grille front come off to allow access or is it a headliner removal? Thanks

You can remove the visor assembly and pull the headliner down enough to get to the sensor. No, the grill does not pull off from the front.

I took one apart at work because I was nosey. There is a small squirrel cage type fan along with small parts inside. If you remove it be careful not to spray parts all over the place. I did then just tossed it in the trash.

If you are still under warranty, I would let the dealer do it.

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

I'm sure this is one of those things that the dealer would not try to disassemble and repair. They would just yank the whole sensor and replace it. And they should go ahead and do that for free if you are under warranty.

Unless you are skilled at microsurgery, this would seem like one of those things that are a lot simpler to take apart than they are to put back together again. It would take an unusual kind of person (like me) with an inner desire to know how it works in order to have the drive to attempt that. I'm guessing that you may not be that type of person, or you wouldn't be asking questions about it, it would already be in pieces and you'd be posting pictures. ;)

If it's under warranty, let the dealer replace it. If it isn't under warranty, you can try taking it apart and fixing it... but before you do, make sure the dealer has one in stock, becuase I'll bet you'll be going to get a replacement before the whole ordeal is over.

If you do go ahead and take it apart, post pictures! ;D

And thanks for the report on the "innards" AVid, but shame on you for not posting pictures! >:D

Hmmmm... so it appears that it wasn't your own sensor, huh? Say no more, apology accepted, end of story. :-X
