What makes the North Face Edition worth it to some? Whats so special about it? Can you 'build a better option plan' yourself??? And there are different color packages for them? I thought they would all be that green combo.

yes they are all green this year and they have a very nice interior i think and they come with duffle bags and some north face equipment i think and they have white gauges and they have the north face logo thats about all i know about em

Not true.

I got an Onyx Black North Face Edition. The North Face didn't really make a difference to me, but it was the only Black Av w/ leather on the lot and I got a great deal on it. Besides, I like having the Z71 package without the stupid looking Z71 logo on the truck.

do the other colors come with the green red and black cool lookin leather interior like the sage green one

I have a Black North Face. It has the green/red North Face leather interior. I am not sure about the 2003's because it sounds like they won't have green/red leather interior. On the 2002 models, you couldn't get heated seats or power lumbar with the North Face edition. These were options I could live without though, because I really liked the interior of the truck. ;D

You probably can build a better functional option package than the North Face Edition.

I was hooked on the aesthetics in the Sage Green color with the cladding and was also not crazy about the Z71 sticker. At first I was unsure of the interior combination, but it grew on me. The water duffalo (sp?) bags came in useful this past weekend at the beach to keep sand out of everything. I do miss the additional adjustments on the seats and the warmers. But given the choice I would definitely buy the North Face again.

I am very happy with my SGM TNF. I would do it again in a heart beat. I got mine with factory sun roof, rack and running boards. I sold the boards on ebay and installed Westins nerf bars in their place. I figure I only need to use the roof rack once and it will have been worth the extra cost.

This one's strictly a matter of opinion . . I love the sage green, don't care for the NF leather interior, like the white gauges - but can't get a tranny temp guage with it, and the price seems high for adding a couple of duffel bags and backpacks. . . . hence mine's a Z-71 upgraded with a Denali cluster. You can always pull the Z-71 stickers off if you like.

Well....the Trailblazer is coming out with a North Face Edition. And it incudes heated seats.

It just pisses me off that the manufacturers do that...restrict options on a specialty model you really like.

Onyx Blk TNF, w/factory installed sunroof, rack and boards as well. I get a lot of nice feedback on the green leather interior and I don' t see that many other TNF's around here which I think makes mine a little more unique.

I would get TNF edition again in a heartbeat as well. I'm very happy I found a dealer with everything I was looking for and apparently they thought enough of it to have it on thier showroom floor.

I like the concept of the North Face, but wasn't crazy about the sage green and the interior....I liked the white face gauges...hence me putting in Nu-image in my Av....nonetheless for those that were a little aprehensive because of the color won't have to worry come 03' models....when new color schemes will be introduced to the NFE.... :B:

There were other colors besides sage green for '02 North Face. Some still on the lots too.

I know members who have SOM and Black TNF, etc.

I was referring more to the new Blue and Grey...I think they would look really sharp...

I would like to know how many TNF editions were made and in which colors. It sounds as though some of TNF colors schemes are going to be unique to first model year only.

As far as classics go, such uniqueness means more $$$ and greater demand for short supply item.

Just checked out the link.

Looks like the TrailBlazer will also be offered with the 5300 V8 that currently drives our beloved AVs.

Seems like they are putting together a slightly smaller verison of the Tahoe.

Malcolm

Actually it's a newer all aluminum vortec 5300 V8 (first year). I am not sure the Av will get it this year or next.

GM's website with the 2003 specs is showing a cast iron block 5.3L for 2003 Avalanche.

Hmmm....well here is what that link says about the 5300 Vortec for the 2003 Trailblazer. 2 different 5300 Vortec's then???

New Vortec 5300 5.3L V8
This fall, the TrailBlazer EXT will offer an optional Vortec 5300 5.3L V8 - the first Vortec V8 featuring an aluminum block. It will deliver 290 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. That means a properly equipped TrailBlazer EXT can tow up to 7,200 pounds. The aluminum block's reduced mass and superior thermal efficiency enhance performance and fuel efficiency compared to its cast-iron counterpart. The engine meets federal and California Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEV) standards.

That is correct. The Trailblazer gets the LM4, while the Avalanche 1500 gets the LM7.

Well that is kind of a let down as they are obviously saying the aluminum block 5300 is superior to the cast iron block 5300. Probably clearing them out. I know my ls1 has great power and fuel efficiency. I'll bet the Av eventually gets the aluminum vortec. But when?
