According to the GM reports dated  January 3,2003 Titled "GM Reports best December Sales since 1979"

Under the heading of "GM Truck Deliveries -(United States)"
Calendar Year-to-Date - January - December
Avalanche

These  numbers combined = 142,327 which would be fairly close to the numbers cited in the  message.

That's why the wife won't let me have a home with property. She's afraid I'd have it littered with cars and trucks..

Hate to say for once she's probably right..

Hi Everyone, I just bought the newest car I have ever owned (the wife has owned newer), a 2002 Avalanche NFE. I lucked into it, I wanted a sunroof and leather seats, and this one was the best deal I could fine around town with both. I didn't really give much thought to the NFE (or know it existed until I found the one I bought). The front seats are in rough shape, I will need to get them redone and the Cladding is pretty faded, but overall it is a great looking and driving truck. I believe it is black, the rpo codes pulled up many different exterior colors, none of them have a fancy name: PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, BLUISH BLACK 3, (02), HOLDEN; PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, BLACK (02) ;  PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, GREEN MET (CATERA)(02) ; PRIMARY COLOR EXTERIOR, ARINOS GREEN MET (BRAZIL) (02) 111, it is black, or a very dark blue though, so maybe bluish black is the color?

In any case, I would love to hear from someone who had custom seat covers done up to replace the factory seat covers. I am currently looking for the seat pads, I don't want to replace the covers without replacing the foam, as the ebay videos I have been watching say worn out foam will wear out the new cover quick.

Take care everyone,

Bryan

Use Refinish Restorer on the cladding.  It is easy to apply and will last a long time.  One of the site vendors on here sells it.

Wickman, I was looking at the site sponsors, and I saw that product. I was looking in the before/after thread and saw that the cladding looked great after application. I was trying to find a bit more information before I make a purchase. I have heard that some of the refinish stuff will run off and be kind of waxy, I really don't want runoff to deal with, does it run or streak? If not, I will be sure to purchase through the sight sponsor, the prices look good, and it looks like there are some package deals that come with other car care products.

Thanks for the advice,

Bryan

Bryan, I used it on my 02 about 2 1/2 years ago.  My cladding was really faded with bad tiger stripes on the sail panel.  It is just now needing to be re-done.  I had no problem with waxiness or runoff.  I used a sponge brush to apply and used a cereal box that I slip between the cladding and the paint.  If you do get a little on the paint it wipes right off.

Hello everyone, new to the club and recently purchased an 03 Sage Green NFE. It has just over 130k miles on it but you'd never tell by looking at it. Still has the bags behind the seats and original north face floor mats.

Picked up a black 03 NFE in November. Has a 140k on the clock and is a fun little project so far. Previous owner admitted to letting it sit in the open for almost 4 years without touching it.  Glad its mine now!

What are the thoughts out there on the possibility of the '02 North Face Avalanche eventually becoming a collector?  I'm curious because we're kind of on the fence about the future of this gem as a place in our household fleet.  We bought it in 2013 with 65,000 miles on it, drive it only a few times a year, and it now has only 87,000 miles on it. We are in MN, but I've driven it only three times in the winter and have gone to the point of crawling under it with a power washer and blasting away any salt to keep it  It's taking up space in the garage so we've thought about selling it.  On the other hand it seems like there probably weren't a huge number of 2002 orange NFE's manufactured and likely far fewer out there today that haven't turned to six digits on the odometer.

Thanks!

As with any used vehicle and it's future value it is always supply and demand. If you have a pristine original with all the North Face bags and trim then a person looking for factory original will pay more for it probably. The trend seems to vary form those vehicles with fresh paint and interior v. those that still have factory paint and interior since those purist say "it is only original once".
Only time will tell if the AV in general is considered a great example of engineering or a strange duck like a Pacer etc. Over time it will be harder to find original replacement parts and that could affect collectability, consider having an old Mustang or Vette v. another model car from the same year that doesn't have a cult following.
Sometimes though in collecting market value isn't always economic but can be emotional too. If dad or grand dad had one then a family member may want one as a memory. Speaking of that you could consider keeping good maintenance on it and creating good memories with your family and maybe it will be a valuable family legacy to you and your family itself?

Thanks for the perspective on it.  You've pretty much concluded exactly what I've been thinking about it this Av.  If I were to put it out there now and somebody picked it up as a daily driver, the end result would likely be a fine specimen of a NFE Avalanche falling victim to our MN roads and rusting out.  And who knows...maybe someday 30 or 40 years from now one of my kids gets it, shines it up, and drives it in the parade once a summer.

Early years only...

OH ! I see. I do not have the North Face Edition. I love the chrome running boards and white instrument cluster however the seats are a little over the top. Thanks for the clarification. Mike

Chrome nerf bars was an option or add on for any version.

NF came with special leather seats and some NF bags and special cluster....and NF badge on outside..

that is about it.

02 NFE medium sage green owner, got it last week, thrilled so far, pretty well taken care of for a Minnesota relic, interior is nice, fairly ding free body, installed a new cabin air filter and "bombed" it with McGuire's new-car-smell canister today and just waiting for my two NF backpacks to arrive. Thinking of buying the Claddys by spring....anyone have them installed on there Green NFE?

My family got a 02 NFE black one a couple of years ago and it's got nearly 200k on it. It's really rusty on the rockers and cab corners which we're slowly tackling. Overall great truck though.
