North GA Jan Meet With A 4x4 Section (pics)

We are going to have a run on Sat. Jan 11th, 2003. ?This ride will have a 4x4 only section. ?The plan is to meet ?at the Targets parking lot in Woodstock, Ga (475 and rt 92) at 10:30, leave there (11:00) and drive to Amicola State park. ?This will cost $2-3 per vehicle. ?Amicola state park has Ruby falls, which has a huge water fall. ?So I figure that this would be a good place to chat, take pictures and do the falls. ?Tom has found a neat 4x4 path that we will take after that, so the 2x4 members can ride with Tom or Me if you like and leave you Av in the state park which we will run back to when we are done 4x4'ing. ?If you decide not to go with us 4x4'ing you are then on your own at this point. ?The 4x4 section Tom has rated at a Medium Difficulty level, so it should not be that bad. ?If you have Tow straps please bring them, just better to be prepared, then to be stuck some when needing them. ?The 4x4 section will be a couple of hours long! ?Plenty of time to stop and take pictures and get your beasts dirty. ?We will then run back to the State park to pick up the 2x4's, and if you want we can stop at a Taco Mac on the way home for dinner and drinks! ? I know I have three people so far, so just let me know who is in, 2x4 or 4x4 av, and if you are 2x4 Av if you want to ride with someone on the 4x4 section so I can make seating plans if needed! ?I hope that everybody is having a great holiday!

Well Tom and I went out and played in the woods this weekend! The trail is great and a medium in diffculty! If you listen and watch were to place your Av you should have no problems!! The big thing that I would tell you is if you have the hard plastic muds flaps you will want to take them off before hand! Mine are no longer on the truck! It will be a great ride!! So come on out and have some fun! Here is a link with some pictures of the trail! The second one is ones that you can download with a mini movie of my Av going through the mud!!

So there is nobody else out there in the North Ga area interested in getting there Av's out into the woods??? So far I have 2 Av's including mine and one person riding shotgun! I know we have more people out in the area!!! Is there something that would make this ride more apealing that I have not thought of??

Dang, I'm surprised you haven't gotten more response. That looks like a LOT of fun! Bring that outing to TX and we'll give ya a Goo-sized turnout. :)

I agree, I mean I am in the Atlanta area, so I know there is many more Av owners out there!! I think the problem that has occured with this date is it conflicts with football! So I might have ot just take you up on some 4x4'ing in Texas! Do I get a 10 Gallon hat? >:D

Would moving this meet to the 18th be better for people? So we would not have to conflict with football games? All of the games for the championship will be played on Sunday! So that would take the football element out! Would this work for everybody?

Here is the deal! We will still meet this weekend for a cruise! If you can make it let me know! I already know that Tom and I are going! So if you would like to join us, please come out! Also please let me know! We are going to move up the meeting time to 9:45am at Target's leaving at 10:00 this way we can get back to see some of the games! Now for the next weekend, Sat 18th! I have two other people that should be able to go on Sataurday! All of the Championship games for football will be played on that Sunday!! So Football should not be an Interfernce!! It is a great ride and a lot of fun, you will not be disappointed with it! So is anyone else interested in coming out and playing in the mud this weekend or next weekend????????

You guys know this only works well if people actually come out and play!

Remember me? Football is not the problem I am having with the dates, it is mostly Boy Scout events that are eating up my weekends. I'll be in Blue Ridge this weekend at the annual SWC. Next weekend is good. I would love to take the AV out and get it muddy again. Count me in!

I was counting on you as the number 2 person for the 18th!! So where are the rest of you!!

Just remember if you have the hard plastic mud guards on your truck remove them before the meet! If you do not the trail will! I went with AVSandman today and had a blast! I must say I more and more impress with this truck as today with the mudflaps gone did not even rub or brush the skidplates! It is a lot of fun!!

Well Tom and I had one hell of a great time this past weekend!! I did things in my Av that I only thought a CJ7 should do!! The best was though getting my front end of the avalanche almost two feet off the ground coming out of a mud puddle! Now for this coming weekend! I do have two people interested along with someone else that might ride with one of us! I hate to do this but they are yelling for the white stuff here in Atlanta, which means in the mountains that there should be even more! These trails that we are going to go on have one bad thing about them, they are not that safe if there is ICE!! Ask Tom as he had a nice little slide when trying some of the stuff in 2 wheel drive! The other thing is a couple of the mud holes are not very friendly to the bumpers if they are frozen! ( I have a slight tear in the rear bumper from one of the extreme holes) This hole is not on the route! So if it does snow on Friday, ther will not be a cruise on Sat!! Just have to do it for Safety reasons!! Trust me it does not take a lot to talk Tom and I into going out and doing some 4x4'ing!! I will send out an e-mail on Friday to determine the Status!! Sound good?

We with great disapointment I need to cancel this weekend's run! The problem is that trail will be just ice! They got snow, and with the tempratures not going above freezing, it would be to dangerous! The low here in Atlanta Sat is suppose to be 13 degrees in the morning! The second thing is there is a neat mud hole, but with this frozen like a brick and rutted I think that it could do some damage! The thrid thing is the forrestry service is known to shut down some of the dirt roads when it gets bad, but forget to tell people what sections are closed! So what I propose is to push the meet back to the end of Feb! When Spring will be in Atlanta, and we can cover the beasts head to toe in mud!! How does that sound!
