Today, I installed the GM bug deflector, front and rear mud flaps, Billet Grill, and two R&D light accessories (fog lights and all four highs). I am a computer guy, and if I can do this work, anyone can (only took five hours).

Just wanted to say what a great truck the av is, and how easy it is to work on. So, if anyone out there is hesitant on doing this kind of work... don't be.

Also, wanted to thank everyone on this site for their encouragement, and their vast knowledge.

Cheers

Xrover - Everything works great. Installing the light accessories was a little daring for me, but the instructions that came with the products were very clear, and made it a breeze.

gandolphxx - Yes I installed the tape on the windshield trim. This proved to be the hardest part of the day, but then I realized, that I could use a torx bit, inside of a quarter inch socket, to get the bottom screws out of the trim piece.

Not bragging but i just watched on tape the NASCAR race at the ROCK on my new 57in Toshiba Wide Screen with Cinema Series High Def Tv it's Unreal !!!!

Can someone answer a question about the GM bug deflector...

How does it mount to the truck. Is it just stuck to the top or does it wrap under the front lip of the hood?

Hey Kronk,
GM now punches square holes on the under side of the hood at the plant. ?If you get a deflector from GM, which they have more than one style, you should get five hard plastic gromets that fit into these holes. ?Hold your shield up to the holes, start from the middle, and use the five screws and washers to mount it. ?Do each end next, but don't tighten them down until you step back and make sure it's centerd. ?Do not use an electric screwdriver as it may over torque the screws and crack the shield.

The deflector I got from GMPartsDirect has only 4 holes, the two on the outside. While there were 5 screw buttons to insert into the hood, and 5 screws, there's no center hole in the shield. Of course, it doesn't say "GM Accessories" on it either. The instruction sheet had GM all over it though.

I wonder if I got another brand or something. This shield has rubber bumpers on each end and the center. The end bumpers come right down on top of the headlight pods, and seem to seal up the gap pretty well. The center bumper must hit the fan shroud, or something close to it, though I haven't looked.

Thanks Chevylover. I have one from GM for my Aztek and it just sticks to the top of the hood. I wish I would have known this before ordering it...

Do you have any insight on vent visors that do not stick to the paint for the AV. I've seen the GM ones and they just stick to the paint. I was wondering if any one has some that fit into the door to give a cleaner finished look and not to muck up the paint. I guess I would also be concerned about water leaks at that point if the visor would start pushing the window out of whack...
