I have the USB/cable version and there are some things not explained in the brief manual I need help with. Please post if you are familiar with this scanner capture  tool.

One problem I have is I cannot record  data logs to hard disk; I'm missing a step somewhere.

Thanks

Well I do not have the USB version, but I'm willing to try to help you.

Do you have it on a PC, what version is it and is it licensed.

Yes it is the real deal and Licensed. It's the latest version which is 2.16.4.965. It's dated 2014 and I looked at the site today and it's the latest available. It's on my Microsoft i5 Surface tablet running Windows 10, 64bit Pro. So after selecting the PID's I want to record in data logging, when I click the record button, the screen grays out and only The Compress TDL Data option is available. I have a folder path created for the CSV log files. Is it prompting me for a file name, or should it already be created, or will it do that for you? I just don't get it.

Thanks

I think I figured something out. It is making logs but not stored in the CSV log directory. I found 3 of them in the QBDwiz/Recorded Data folder. What a pain hitting play button on one screen and watch the graph on another, makes no sense.

What is the file extension name, .PID ?

No, .tdl

Also none of the 3 fuel and fuel rail pressure PID's return any data  ???

What is the diff between TDL or CSV recording and when would I want both?

Yeah the 02-06 do not have sensors on the fuel rail so that will not work. I'll load obdwiz on my pc tomorrow and see if I came figure it out.

I found one from back in July 21st. It showed initial MAF temp at 84 deg. By the time I hit work it was 68.9 deg. I've always wanted a way to test if the hood scoop was effective at that, now I can make a run with it blocked and with it open and see if it helps.

You can try searching www.scantool.net/forum/index.php it has a area for OBDWIZ

Boy that was quick. LOL

Their a good bunch of folks and very knowledgeable to answer your question(even thou you may not understand)

I run Scan XL Pro I had to build a file using the PIDs so it knows what to log.

Scan XL Pro with the extended add on is VERY nice...

And if you know the codes you can pull status messages from ANY module and some other cool stuff since it has a "terminal" mode... Which is how I read my Air bag codes which are not normally available...

Scan XL Pro will also pull ABS codes as well.

I have a Winbook 8" tablet I run with mine and works great and MUCH easier to tote around than a laptop.. And costs about $100 for the tablet and about $200 for the full software package when I bought it. The USB ODBII reader with ODBwiz was like $40 when I bought it... So I have under $400 into my diagnostic system...

Thanks. Question though, are you supposed to hit the record button twice to start actual logging?

Rodney can you tell me how to access the "terminal" mode in ScanXL Pro? I have an air bag light on my dad's Buick that is being a pain in the butt. The light comes on when the outside temperature is cold like 40 deg or lower and stays on until temp goes above that for a while. Thanks

I will have to check my notes...

You have to check the air bag stuff when the vehicle is on and in the running mode.

Also, the front impact sensors seem to be the biggest issue. Mine had actually split apart and had white goo all over it. While the normal sensor is rectangular mine was so swollen it was actually a sphere.

On my cladded '03 you can see where the sensors are through the tow hooks.

If you have a Z71 you can pull off the plastic guard under the bumper and they are on the opposite ends of the radiator bracket on the bottom of the radiator. You can visually inspect them and check their condition. I have heard from other people that theirs were like mine and had also split.

I will assume that a non z71 doesnt have the guard and you can see them from the back side of the radiator.

I am real busy right now so I probably should send you my email address so you can bug me.

Basically you send the module a code to report any codes and it does.
Same code works for all modules...  So if you suspect a code you can pull them from any module.

I would really look at the Touchscan app, I think it's way better than OBDwiz

I think you are right. It is reporting a lot of PID's available that are not supported by a 2002 year. I made a custom gauge screen today with all the stuff I want to see but no time to test it yet. You can edit the settings for each one and give it titles and ranges and even change the font. This part of OBDwiz I do like about it.

Try this.

I will try to make a post on using the Scan XL Pro with some of the manual stuff I have... Will allow you to play around a little with the modules in your vehicles..

Someone helped me off another site and gave me some good information but I haven't been able to make use of alot of it yet.

Busy with school work and life but I will try to get something written up shortly.

I bought it. Hope it gets better.

It should help, looks like it has more features especially the logging part.

How did it work out for you. ?

No chance yet. The neighborhood kids broke the Plexiglas backboard on my basketball hoop and I'm reconstructing it. Going with 1/4" glass this time. Man the stuff ain't cheap!!

You know a gun can err never mind. LOL

This software is starting to pay for itself. Accidentally left my 1500 watt inverter on while parked for a while. Tried remote starting it and brought the system voltage down so low it threw a code. Used the scan tool to clear it and everything has been good ever since.

Funny how that works, it just paid for itself and many more times to come..
It also works on those Reduced engine power codes too.
