******* UPDATE *******

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has closed bottom fishing for the year. This year's quota of bottom fish have been caught.

The fishing trip is still on if people want to go for a 6 hour fishing trip for chinook salmon. The cost will be $65 (not including license) - everything else still included.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested.

I have asked a lot of you about the interest in an off shore fishing trip and got nearly 100% postive feedback... well it's time to start planning...

Time: 7:30am - dockside

Date: Saturday, Oct. 2nd

Where: Tradewind Charters in Depoe Bay, Oregon

Itinerary: Meet up really early in the morning to get out to Depoe Bay by 6:30am. We will be out to sea for 5 full hours (depending upon weather and ocean conditions). I have been out with this Charter company on two other trips, both of which were fantastic!! We limited out on Black Sea Bass and Ling Cod both times. They offer fillet services at the dock for such a reasonable rate I couldn't pass it up. I vacuum seal the fillets for great fish throughout the year! It was somewhere close to a couple gallons worth of fillets!

Cost: yep, there's a cost (more than those morning hours of sleep) It's $60 per person or $54 for groups of over 8 people. The cost includes Tackle, Gear, & Hot Coffee. You will need to get a fishing license (availible at the dock before we take off).

Like the sign says....
Quit whining... Go fishing

The first trip I took with them went a couple three miles off shore... it was my first time where I was in salt water and couldn't see the coast. Pretty cool. We had a couple whales pass by us as we fished. They were huge!

The second trip scirted the coast and stayed within sight of it. We fishing in some secluded bays. Very picturesque.

Both trips were well worth it.

We should be back around noon so a quick cruise back home is easy. If there is a split in the households as to what one party will do while the other goes fishing... well Lincoln City (outlet mall) is just up the road a couple minutes... ;) Everyone is welcome to come fishing!

I'll pass on this as I am not much of a fisherman and my wife is HIGHLY allergic to seafood.

PDX Kevin,

I can probably make the Oct 2. How is the crabbing at this time of year? Or is the one that has crabbing? I also might be able to get more seats filled from a few gys at work who have expressed interst in fishing. if we can reduce the cost to each of us.

I think that I would probably be bringing my 15 year old nephew, and could probably talk my Brother-in-Law in going.

maybe... I'll have to wait a bit to confirm.... have to get my tummy convinced that "you can do it" :-[

The more the merrier. Any one, interested in going, is welcome! Five people I know have said they want to go as well. I think we will have around a dozen or so people. I can't wait!

The ocean crabbing will have ended by then so this will be fishing trip.

Put me down as a maybe. I love deep sea fishing and if I'm already over in CA, I may fly up there friday night and fly home on Sunday.

PDX,

I have talked to a few people at my work and about 10 have expressed interest. I will call you later to talk to you about what is necessary for the reservation.

GREAT !! Looks like we could fill a boat

Everyone and anyone!

Please let me know if you are going fishin' with us on Oct 2nd!
The more notice I can give the charter company the better.

I am really looking forward to being back out on the water!

A friend told me the first time I went out, I was supposed to take some dramamine the night before and than again in the am at least an hour before heading out. I have done this every time and haven't fed the fishes involuntarily yet.

I plan on going, if there is enough room, I could bring two people with me. (y) (y)

I have only been fishing like this once in Hawaii, caught a little Marlin, 32 pounds, but it was fun......

Great
the more the merrier!

I called them and got us set up.. They said Sat Oct 2nd works great and bring as many as we want! Also to bring warm cloths and a lunch everything else is provided...

One thing I would add is a cooler for bringing fish home. There usually are some guys on the dock who will fillet out your fish incredibly fast for something like a buck a fish. Well worth it in my book. I have filleted fish. Many fish and still prefer to pay them to do it. You can get the fillets on ice right away and not haul any extras home. Though we like ot save the rest of the fish for future crabbing trips out to the coast!

Oct is after the shift to their fall hours... so we will can sleep in another hour! We need to get to dockside by 7:30.

Sorry I will have to back out of this one I fly in from San Antonio, Texas just 3 days before this cruise I will need to play catch up with school and work :6:
