Gauging interest in doing off-roading.  There's an off-road park minutes from Madison, per Mapquest:

http://dirtyturtleoffroad.com/

Here's their reply to my email to them:

Our trails will certainly accomodate your group. 20 per rig or 35 per rig for the weekend and includes camping. 5 per passenger over 12 or $10 for weekend for each passenger. Each rig must have a dtor decal. Only $5.  See you all this summer.

Post up your interest if you'd rather see your AV dirty than all shined up!

If your are interested in running your ATVs instead of your AV, then this is your place as well!  This place has been featured on the TV program Fisher's ATV World.

Edit - March 4 - looking to do this on Saturday.

Sounds like a blast!
If I lived closer,Id be in.Off-roading is fun!
Very hard to find a place in Missouri.

I understand the stranded away from home.  Looks like Haspin Acres has a variety of challenges to suit even my Z66!

Was reading on their site, that you must have a signed and Notarized copy of their liability form, before you are allowed to enter the park; will there be someone that is a Notary Public at the Nationals?

Good catch.  I'll go over their policies with them before we get there.  Unless we've got a Notary Public at the Nationals I suppose we could either make arrangements with one local to Madison, or possibly have people get them notarized ahead of time.

any more info on this yet?

Other than some very preliminary research I've been planning on waiting until after new years before getting too deep into this and the possible dyno trip - so the answer is no, not yet.

Was chatting this morning after church with someone who's done a good deal of off-roading as his family owns the company that makes Hi-Lift Jacks.  He told me to stay away from Haspin Acres, but suggested another place that's MUCH closer to Madison.  I'm going to try to contact them this week and inquire what their trails will be like for our big trucks.

Did he give a reason to avoid Haspin?

No Roody you won't be able to see them, you'll have to just come on  down and do your own picture taking and wheelin in the mud, hehe

If you guys actually do go wheeling at the GTG you better post some pictures  (y)

I wish!  Madison, IN is ~800 miles each way, which equates at 15 MPG to $400 in gas, plus tolls, plus hotels/food/etc...it'll end up being a $750 weekend for me, easily...if all goes without a hiccup.  Honestly the way the truck has been acting (transmission) I wouldn't drive it that far from home as with my luck it would probably end up on a flatbed  :E: :E:

BUT schedule the GTG for 2015 somewhere closer to NY and I'm there  (y)

He wasn't too specific, until he mentioned about vehicles in the parking lot getting broken into...

He said they won't go back there but this other spot based on their web page looks promising and MUCH closer.  I'll try emailing them later today.

We WERE in NY last year, where were you?

Didit

Buffalo, right  ???

I wasn't "active" on the forum...college was taking up too much of my mind (for good and for bad) and now that I'm working I can actually mess around on the forum instead of being hungover all the time spending life in the library

First post editted to reflect going to Dirty Turtle Offroad.  See that post for link to their website.

Bring a friend.Don't hurt to ask dad.

Sounds like a good place, and appears like its just down the road from the lodging

Due to the dyno shop prefering to have us on Friday we are going to be swapping this from Friday to Saturday.

Are there any car washes nearby, if I do make it I'd like to clean my AV after we go wheeling.
